Fortunately there's excellent artists out there who have the opposite record: getting work done quickly and keeping customers engaged. And I think they don't get enough credit.

I think this is disgusting behavior from artists, and yet it's too commonplace in the fandom. If people pay you to do stuff, you have the responsibility to do it within a reasonable time frame. And what you definitely should not do is set unrealistic expectations you have no intention of meeting.

This stings because normally I have the rule not to commission anything from artists with a track record of delivering their stuff on time, and definitely not from people who will normally exceed the PayPal customer protection period.

Small rant: last June I ordered a commission from a well-known furry writer, with an ETA of 25 weeks. They've since told me that they'd start working on it "before the end of the year", then that they'd reach back "by the end of last week", and of course I haven't heard anything since.

It feels frustrating to see some of my furry Telegram contacts using AI-generated profile pictures, but I think it'd be awkward to talk to them about that. 🤔
