it's an active suppression of the needs of water signs, who value emotional contentment, and therefore, need to behave in a way that makes them feel free and unrestrained. For water signs, air signs are actively trying to confine them.
this actually doesn't really work all that well. Water signs do not value social harmony in the same way, and in fact, when someone tries to make them act in ways that are socially harmonious in an airy way (which they perceive as fake and performative), they see it as violence
