So for now, it remains unblocked. But I have begun logging IPs of those using Windows 7.

Maybe I block w7 users in Singapore. But I only identified this in the first place bc of the odd Windows 7 UA. What % of other visitors are bots? Not all, but some? Most? I can't detect them well, evidently. I don't know who's running them. And I don't want to fingerprint humans to find out.
But for what? They aren't DDoSing me, but they are executing JavaScript and evading my (admittedly lax) bot mitigations. Maybe they are stealing my copyrighted content to train an AI model.
Over 90% of my Windows 7 "visitors" are Chrome users in Singapore with no referrer and 1280x1200 displays. These users *do* execute JS, but do not engage with the page. They appear to visit pages at random.
Unless my website is shockingly popular with Singaporean Windows 7 users, these are bots...
Windows 7 traffic on my site has dramatically increased over the past 3 months. This was widely reported in the news, and frequently attributed as a statscounter glitch. But I don't use statscounter, and my Windows 7 traffic is still increasing.
Why? A thread;
as a condition of funding, we were asked to affirm that we wouldnβt undertake any diversity, equity, and inclusion work, whether or not we used the government funds to do so. The PSF simply couldnβt agree to that statement,
Pro tip: Deploy all infra to US-EAST-1 so when it all falls apart nobody blames you and you don't need to worry about failovers!

Yeah iOS has been stable at least and day to day so is macOS but it fails catastrophically sometimes, last week I had to reinstall because spell check, Siri and continuity were all utterly broken
I do wonder about the interoperability request form. Why havenβt all these little cuts been fixed? Does it involve a lot of legalese so only big corps can afford it? Is the scope too small? Does Apple reject things overzealously? Surely if it was easy the indies wouldβve requested everything by now
Like the now playing widget has a separate icon for AirPods. Only Apple Maps is able to stay open when you lock your phone. HDR in HEIC is completely undocumented so every photo editing app fucks it up. The list goes on and on.
Call me a doomer but with 17 years of entrenchment and no corporate buyin iOS will never be fully interoperable. The DMA is great but itβs the sum of a bazillion little things that makes a product feel at home. Death by a thousand cuts.
The wireless headphones are back. I tried charging them once a day for the past week. Yesterday, I smacked it on my desk 5 times and plugged it in again and that little shit started charging
Using wired headphones bc my wireless ones went for a swim.
First, wired headphones are a PITA. I don't like the tether. I miss ANC. I don't like the weight of the wire.
But oddly, they sound just as good, maybe better. Definitely better than the wireless ones before an equalizer. They cost $20.
I suspect copilot is GitHubβs most profitable product. Anyway GitHub is a part of M$ CoreAI instead of DevOps now so thereβs no going back
This is a very expensive setup π³
@logfallen.bsky.social i'm trying to reach you any way, do you still have the Piglen 1.16 downloads? the mega links are dead and your discord is gone
I know the Switch 2 just came on but I want to give you a love letter to my 3DS:

idk i sorta like it needs a bit of a work but the glass is pretty.
As I correctly predicted, fare evasion increased. The MBTA says that βa loss of $30m threatens a lifeline,β and that βevery dollar is important to us.β If that really was so, you wouldnβt have spent $1b to lose an additional $30m each year forever.
Free the fucking T.

Could you elaborate on this? My best understanding of ATProto is that it exchanges complexity in places for different complexities in others.
Yes I know thatβs exactly my point. Retrofitting activitypub or hell atproto into an existing platform with years of effort behind them is a much more productive endeavor than creating a new platform from scratch
Both gitlab and forgejo have federation in varying capacities. They arenβt perfect, but as a holistic platform theyβre light years ahead of tangled which is still closer to concept art than a fully functioning platform. If energy was given to these features theyβd be great much faster than tangled
Perhaps the original poster shouldβve swapped the two platforms.
Just fwi to everyone, the replies here are really hypocritical. You cannot argue that you are the good guys who hope everything just works out while simultaneously calling mastodon users and activitypub horrid
Yeah someone on bluesky talking about how bluesky users are the sane ones? Give me a break. *minorities* of both groups are equally overzealous.
In sum, tangled feels like a solution in need of a problem. GitHub offers a thin social layer on top of a decentralized protocol. If GitHub is threatened, decentralized alternatives already exist. Afaik tangled has no discernible value-add over these alternatives, other than βwow atprotoβ.
(βwow atprotoβ doesnβt count. Thatβs what the cryptobros said. No use in being loyal to the technology. Only ask what the technology enables that others do not)
