Aoostar AMD Strix Halo Mini PC Gets Design Update Aoostar showed off its Nex395 AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 mini PC design earlier this year, revealing a somewhat edgy mini PC design at the time. Now, however, thanks to IT Home, we have gotten a good look at the updated design, which is a lot more subdued and professional than the previous renders showed. It is expected that the Aoostar Nex395 will launch internationally, like many of the company's recent devices, however, Aoostar has not yet announced a release window or expected launch pricing. Instead, the teaser says the Nex395 is "coming soon," according to the new teaser. The internals, however, remain seemingly unchanged. The Aoostar Nex395 mini PC will still launch with the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 SoC and up to 128 GB of LPDDR5X memory. According to IT Home, the upcoming mini PC will have dual USB4 ports and one unspecified USB Type-C interface on the front edge next to the illuminated power button. The material looks like a matte aluminium, but it's unclear if it will be plastic, like the rest of the case appears to be. From the appearance, Aoostar is intending the Nex395 to be an AI workstation instead of the gaming boxes many companies have announced since the launch of Strix Halo. When it launches, the Nex395 will have to contend with a flurry of recent AMD Strix Halo-powered devices from companies like Minisforum and even a few gaming handhelds from the likes of Ayaneo and a gaming tablet from OneXPlayer. The following images depict the new design (left) and the design previously teased by Aoostar (right).

KBDcraft Shamshel 'LEGO-Style' Mouse Enables DIY Customization KBDcraft is known for its LEGO-inspired mechanical keyboards, like the 60% Adam keyboard or the split ortholinear Israfel. Now, KBDcraft is bringing that mod-friendly design philosophy to a mouse with the reveal of the Shamshel. KBDcraft's Shamshel is a modular mouse designed to fit into a LEGO-style enclosure, with compatibility for original LEGO bricks allowing users to create and customize their mouse or even design a new case from scratch fairly easily. Pricing has not been revealed just yet, although a teaser on KBDcraft's Instagram page reveals that there will be a Kickstarter reward that includes two of the new mice for $39.99. It looks as though the two-for-one deal will include two different PCBs and one case, with the two PCBs using different switches. Except for the PCB and the switches, the Shamshel is completely constructed from LEGO-style bricks. Even the scroll wheel and hinge mechanisms for the main left and right click buttons are made from bricks, meaning you can conceivably customize things like switch height and weight by implementing a different lever design. It doesn't seem like the mouse is wireless or as if it's made for esports or fast-paced gaming, although official specifications have yet to be announced. However, it's clear from the promotional imagery that the mouse will be available with either hot-swappable mechanical keyboard switches or regular mouse micro switchesβ€”this is part of the justification for the aforementioned two-mouse bundle deal. You can follow the project's Kickstarter page or check out the official KBDfans product page for future updates. Read full story

Samsung Reallocates NAND Production to DRAM Across Korean Fabs Samsung is reportedly preparing a major shift in its memory production strategy as DRAM demand continues to surge on the back of global AI infrastructure growth. According to Korean industry reports cited by SE Daily, the company plans to convert parts of its NAND flash lines in Pyeongtaek and Hwaseong into DRAM production, and will also run its upcoming Pyeongtaek Fab 4 (P4) as a DRAM-only line using Samsung's latest 1c process. Industry sources say Samsung has become cautious about the NAND market, while demand for standard DRAM has jumped sharply. Prices are rising fast, and some server customers are said to be offering as much as 70% higher prices for 96 GB and 128 GB DDR5 modules but still can't secure enough supply. Big tech firms reportedly expect shortages to run for years and are already negotiating DRAM allocations for 2027. Samsung currently produces both DRAM and NAND across Pyeongtaek Fab 1, Pyeongtaek Fab 3, and its Hwaseong campus. The hybrid lines at P1 and Hwaseong will shift further toward DRAM as NAND equipment is removed. Fab 4, now in final construction, will start up next year as a dedicated 1c DRAM line, and Samsung is also considering using a second zone of P4, originally planned for foundry production, for DRAM as well. Once the changes are in place, Samsung's DRAM output from P1 (Hwaseong) and Fab 4 (P4) is expected to climb significantly in the first half of next year. Reduced Korean NAND production will reportedly be offset by higher output from Samsung's Xi'an plant in China.

PUBG Dev Launches Roguelike with Gen-AI World PlayerUnknown Productions, a new game studio started by Brendan Greene, the mind behind PUBG, has launched its first game in Steam Early Access. While Greene is best known as one of the grandfathers of the battle royale genre, the new game, Prologue: Go Wayback! flips the script entirely, promising an open-world, single-player, survival roguelike. The biggest differentiating feature of Prologue: Go Wayback! is its AI-generated open world and exploration. While Go Wayback is a single-player game, there is no fixed narrativeβ€”your only objectives are to survive the elements and reach the weather tower. Every time you jump into a run of Go Wayback, a new world measuring 64 kmΒ² is generated, featuring dynamic weather, a day-night cycle, and a unique map. The open beta also features a custom game creator, with configurable game modes and settings and a map editor that allows players to sketch out various geographic features for the machine learning model to base its world on. PlayerUnknown Productions's machine learning model is supposedly trained on freely available open-source data. It seems as though the game studio is trying to find a way to integrate AI into gaming to enable new experiences without some of the common pitfalls of generative AI, especially when it comes to copyright. NVIDIA GeForce Hotfix 581.94 Addresses Windows 11 Game Performance Bug NVIDIA has pushed out a new GeForce hotfix driver to address performance drops affecting some games on Windows 11. The issue appeared after Microsoft's October update (KB5066835), and some GeForce users have reported noticeably slower frame rates since installing it. NVIDIA doesn't list which games are affected, only that some titles may run slower or feel less smooth. If you've seen sudden performance dips over the past month, this hotfix may help. The new GeForce Hotfix Driver 581.94 is based on last week's 581.80 Game Ready release. As always, NVIDIA warns that hotfix drivers receive limited testing and are essentially beta builds pushed out quickly to resolve urgent issues. The company says the full fix will be rolled into the next WHQL driver, which will go through the normal QA process. If your system is running fine, you can safely wait for the next official driver. **DOWNLOAD:** NVIDIA GeForce 581.94 Beta Read full story

Microsoft Puts AI Agents in Windows 11 Taskbar Microsoft has integrated agentic AI features into the Windows 11 taskbar, enabling users to easily summon an AI agent to perform tasks. To engage an agent, users type a trigger in the Ask Copilot search field, select an agent from the list, and specify the desired outcome. Once a task is initiated, the agent appears on the taskbar like any other app, and hovering over it reveals a compact status window showing progress and any requests for user input. Visual badges indicate when an agent requires input or when a task is complete. Outputs from all agents are routed into the Microsoft 365 Copilot app, allowing users to view results in one place, even if the agent is from a third party. Microsoft explains that this feature uses Agent connectors and a Model Context Protocol (MCP), which provide a consistent method for agents to access applications, files, and services on the PC. Agents operate within an isolated Agent workspace that enforces policies, logs activity for auditing, and prevents disruption to the active desktop session. However, these AI agents have introduced new security vulnerabilities. Cross-prompt injection attacks are a significant concern, where attackers embed malicious directives in ordinary documents or interface elements, hijacking the agent's original instructions and causing it to perform unintended actions. Hopefully, Microsoft irons out these concerns before AI agents get a wider push. You can see these AI agents live at work below: Read full story

Roblox Enables Age Verification for Chat Access Amid Child Safety Concerns We previously reported on Roblox and potential risks that minors were being exposed to on the platform. To its credit, Roblox previously implemented measures to give parents more control over what their kids could interact with on the platform, and it is now following up those measures with strict limitations on interactions between children and adults in chats. According to the announcement, the new security measures will be voluntary at first, becoming obligatory globally by January. The forced age checks for chat will start in Australia, New Zealand, and the Netherlands during the first week of December. When they opt to do so, or when the age checks become obligatory, Roblox users will be prompted to use the camera on their device to perform an age estimation, which will assign you to an age group and limit chats to people in similar age groups. Minors will only be allowed to chat with adults after getting parental consent. In the given example, it seems as though there is some cross-over between age groups in their teen years. The age check process is powered by Persona, which is also responsible for age verification on Reddit in the UK, and it uses AI to estimate the user's age. The response to these new safety measures has been mixed, with some saying it will severely impede cooperation in strategy and role-playing games, while others have privacy concerns but admit that Roblox had to implement some sort of safety system. The sensor is capable of up to 24,000 DPI and tracking up to 80 G acceleration, and the polling rate tops out at 1,000 Hz. The mouse is designed as an MMO mouse, and, as such, it focuses more on ergonomics and customization, rather than chasing light weight, like modern FPS mice. Instead, the M908 has an adjustable weight system with 8 small 2.4 g weightsβ€”theoretically, this allows you to tune the weight and center of gravity of the mouse. In terms of ergonomics, the Redragon Impact M908 SE appears to be similar to the Razer Naga, although the Naga weighs significantly less than the 165 g Redragon contender. That weight is presumably with all of the weights installed, meaning it could be reduced by around 20 g. That's still quite heavy for a gaming mouse, but it isn't meant as an FPS mouse, so this may not be a concern. Redragon provides a custom software solution for programming the mouse on Windows, although there is no customization on macOS or Linux. Fortunately, the M908 SE does include onboard memory, so once you've customized the buttons and any macros, those will be saved to the mouse and can be used on other operating systems. The Redragon M908 is available from Redragon directly for $32.99.

CEO of GTA VI Publisher Wants AI NPCs for "More Natural" Conversations In the latest of the AI takeover of the video games industry, Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, the publisher of the GTA franchise, made some remarks in a CNBC interview that seem to suggest Take-Two may also soon start embracing AI in games. Speaking on the possibilities of the future of AI in video games, Zelnick says that one of the applications Take-Two is currently exploring is using AI to improve efficiency in the development pipeline, going on to emphasize that those efficiencies are "taking away mundane tasks, so people can focus on more interesting and creative tasks," and not necessarily reducing employment. Expanding further, Zelnick suggests that AI could be used in the creative process, providing the example of streamlining voice acting by training an AI model on a voice actor's lines and using the AI to generate NPC dialogue instead of scripting every interaction. He explains that if characters were to be trained on scripts recorded by voice actors, they could interact more naturally. The idea of training an AI on the voices of paid actors is not new in gaming. Recently, Embark Studios explained how it used a similar model to create more versatile, interesting drop and marker callouts in both Arc Raiders and The Finals. This approach has been criticized for potentially putting voice actors' jobs at risk. When asked about a potential future in which AI could be used to create a game by someone with no technical knowledge, Zelnick explained that, while AI may be able to visually approximate a video game, creating a game is more complicated, specifically referring to the creative and technical talent, marketing, and the bigger picture that would prevent a fully AI-generated game from being realistically attainableβ€”at least in the foreseeable future. Zelnick's comments come shortly after EA signed an agreement with Perplexity AI to integrate AI into workflows throughout the game studioβ€”despite these systems allegedly wreaking havoc on employee efficiencyβ€”and Krafton announced a pivot to being an AI-first company.

Steam Deck Display-Off Downloads Arrive in Mainline Update With Other Fixes Earlier in November, we reported on screen-off downloads finally being added to SteamOS and the Steam Deck Beta and Preview channels in order to prevent OLED burn-in. Now, that update has officially made it into the Steam Deck Client Stable channel, meaning it will soon be available to all Steam Deck users after an update. Any Steam Decks with the latest Steam Client update will automatically download game updates with the display off when the device is plugged in, but you will need to manually enable the new feature on battery power. The Steam Deck will turn off the display automatically after an idle period, and you can check on the download without fully waking the Steam Deck by simply tapping a button or moving the device. Along with the new screen-off downloads, Valve has also added a bunch of fixes to the Steam Client for Steam Deck, including expanding high contrast support, fixing controller and gyro compatibility and sensitivity issues, polishing some UI elements, and fixing some Bluetooth connectivity and compatibility bugs. Valve also added the ability to report harassment in chats directly from the chat window and added support for the 8BitDo 64 Bluetooth controller. Overall, at this point, it seems as though Valve is working on polishing SteamOS and the Steam Client as much as possible, both for the Steam Deck and likely in anticipation of the release of the Steam Machine.

AMD Instinct MI430X Targets HPC Workloads with 432GB of HBM4 Memory AMD has unveiled the Instinct MI430X, a data center accelerator designed for the intersection of high-performance computing and large-scale AI. Deployments are already underway at two of the world's leading research facilities. The GPU is being integrated into the Discovery supercomputer at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the Alice Recoque exascale system in Europe. Both systems will utilize the chip alongside AMD's upcoming EPYC "Venice" processors. By launching directly into production systems rather than through a preliminary announcement, AMD is making the MI430X as the immediate successor to its previous Instinct lineup and a key element for countries and organizations aiming to develop self-reliant, open AI infrastructure. The MI430X tackles the memory bottlenecks that challenge modern AI and simulation workloads with an impressive 432 GB of HBM4 memory, delivering approximately 19.6 TB/s of bandwidth. These specifications essentially transform the accelerator into a near-memory-compute device for trillion-parameter models. The chip is powered by AMD's next-generation CDNA architecture, which maintains hardware-level double-precision FP64 support for traditional scientific computing while introducing native FP8 and FP4 precision modes for efficient AI training and inference. The design also focuses on performance-per-watt improvements, catering to environments where power efficiency is as crucial as raw performance for sustained exascale operations.

Qualcomm Says 90% of Games Run on Snapdragon X2 Elite, Outperforming Intel and AMD Qualcomm is ready to push its Snapdragon X2 Elite and Elite Extreme SoCs into a sector that was previously dominated by x86 SoC makers, and that is gaming. The company now claims that its SoC can run more than 90% of the most played games available on the market on the initial launch. However, this is not the only striking claim, as Qualcomm has benchmarks that prove that its Adreno X2 iGPU is 50% faster than the iGPU inside Intel Core Ultra 9 288V "Lunar Lake" and 29% faster than the iGPU on AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 "Strix Point," under the same graphics settings. This is of course, no small win, and Qualcomm expects to win hearts of gamers with its next-generation platform. The new chip delivers frame rates up to 2.3x higher than its predecessor while supporting many popular Windows games. Its architecture uses four processing blocks that give the flagship X2 Elite Extreme an edge over competing integrated graphics. Each block efficiently processes graphics work before passing it to shader processors organized around two micro-units. These units each contain 128 KB of memory feeding 128 ALUs. The design supports multiple precision formats, employs a more efficient execution model, and can process two instructions at once to maximize its 128-ALU groups. In total, the GPU has eight shader processors and 2,048 ALUs running at up to 1.85 GHz, backed by 21 MB of on-chip memory, 2 MB of cache, and 228 GB/s of memory bandwidth on the flagship model. NVIDIA Demand May Double LPDDR5X and Server DRAM Prices in 2026 Counterpoint Research expects memory prices to keep climbing through 2025 and into early 2026. The firm says DRAM prices could rise another 30% in Q4 2025, followed by up to 20% more early next year. This comes on top of roughly 50% price increases already seen this year. The main pressure right now is on older memory. LPDDR4 supply has tightened as manufacturers shift production to newer parts for AI hardware. That shift has created odd price gaps: DDR5 for PCs and servers is trading around $1.50 per gigabit, while DDR4, used in low-end phones and other consumer gear is selling for about $2.10. Even HBM3e is currently cheaper at around $1.70. Counterpoint expects DRAM output to grow by more than 20% in 2026 as Samsung, SK hynix, Micron, and China's CXMT ramp up production. But the bigger problem may be further ahead. NVIDIA's plan to use LPDDR in future AI systems puts it on par with a major smartphone vendor, something the LPDDR supply chain has never had to support. LPDDR also shifts error correction away from DDR5 ECC modules and onto the CPU, a change that could reshape server designs. In a tight supply scenario, Counterpoint warns DDR5 RDIMM prices could double between early 2025 and the end of 2026. For now, the worst impact is hitting budget smartphones that still rely on LPDDR4. But analysts expect the strain to spread to mid-range and high-end devices, raising bill-of-materials costs by as much as 25% for some models. That could squeeze margins or slow shipment growthβ€”or both. The report adds that broader risks like tariffs, geopolitics, and labor costs make the outlook even more volatile. Read full story
