My reaction to it was largely ambivalence

My wife's reaction was "if you did similar stuff to me I would choose a different way to eviscerate you"

My bafflement and anger are competing hard for primacy in visceral reactions to this one

I am not dunking on this account but it's important to explain a couple of things that they haven't understood.
