tangential to the meme, i concur that game devs starting a serious project lean towards UE over Unity simply because they dogfood their tech as a serious part of their business, and Unity doesn't seriously try to sell a game made with Unity
if you catch "i should get on adderall" followed some random amount of time by "i should take my adderall", then for a few clicks you only have one bubble available, important or not, and only after you click it does a new one come on (related tenuously to the previous one)
i get their desire to control the cashflow of the entire ecosystem given they practically birthed it (since the oculus acquisition) -- but it would have grown much more healthily if they let other players have incentives to grow the ecosystem rather than be subjects within it
meta kind of crippled the VR market despite putting so much money into it, by not doing any of the following:
- open sourcing the shipped OS
- enabling sensor access to devs
- simpler app screening than apple
- leaving successful apps without copying or acquinuking their business
im curious what engine you're using, and have you been implementing RTS/RTT interactions from scratch for this game? it looks (and sounds!) really good

13 years into being the cofounder of a mobile app-based tech business, i still maintain that smartphones being turned into our primary consumer software platforms is a huge mistake for the future of human-centric technology

the gmaps pin display algo is specifically trying to avoid the ubisoft-objective-marker situation, because above a certain pin density the map becomes useless. as you zoom in + "search this area", it will fill in more. the only question is how they choose what to show at lower zoom levels
books, movies and narrative games set in sci/steampunk worlds are almost always fairly dystopian. lately i'm reserving a great deal of headspace trying to flesh out what a solarpunk utopian scifi setting would look like, and inspiration is pretty bare beyond "shiny city meme"
