That was a wild sequence. One of a kind gaming moment.
That was a wild sequence. One of a kind gaming moment.
For sure!
I like the loading screens from Ratchet and Clank for the same reason!
When it comes to Megaton I wish that sequence was repeatable. As if they are actually closing off the gate to defend themselves when you leave. They have to recognize you and open it.
Oh that's so interesting. I'm glad you were able to learn something from the post.
This applies a lot to non games too. I always feel a sense of awe when watching movies where secret rooms open or big spy doors unlatch themselves.
Yes those are great
Yeah those doors hold a special place in my heart.
Yeah I love that one. I also think the exiting sequences, particularly the metro, are pretty cool.
Elevator reveals are a classic.
Oh sweet
That makes sense. Both are very important scenes that the devs gave a good amount of pomp and circumstance.
Omg yes those are the greatest
They put the fun in funicular
A classic. I suspect we got a lot more of these in the past to hide level loading/streaming, but it did add pomp and circumstance to entering these new huge areas. It's almost as if the bigger the new area the longer the door animation had to be.
Going into and out of the safe house in Death Stranding too
Oh heck yeah. I hadn't thought about mechs until you brought this up.
Getting into mechs is always so cool. It makes me think of getting into the mechs in Titanfall too!
Oh yeah. I'd never heard of that before, but yeah it looks pretty cool. Getting to immerse yourself with the characters in a semi private setting.
lol
Ooh and also the docking sequences from Elite Dangerous
As I'm going through it in my head I've also thought of a few more that I love.
Entering Megaton for the first time in F3
Getting in and out of your spaceship in Outer Wilds
Many of the very techy doors in Jak 2 & 3
Also using the big sub in Subnautica.
Never knowing what's going to be on the other side
Oh yeah, the ones where it cuts to the door opening cutscene and the camera pans in. Those are so cool!
Oh yeah. With the cinematic animation while being sucked in.
Oh yeah. I'd never seen that before, but it has that subtle narration of "Time passes" when the screen fades.
This makes me think of the boss mist in the souls games as well
To the gentle gamers of Bluesky. I need your help with a very unique and specific question.
What are you favorite videogame transitions/doors
ex:
the elevator in cyberpunk,
the metro
the checkpoint before dogtown
The vault door in fallout
etc.
Hi everyone! Do you like breaking games?
Check out my video! I put a ton of effort into it!

I've been thinking a lot about "Checkpoins" in games, in the literal sense. Like big doors you need to go through that take some time to open.
I feel like they add so much weight to the world.
I especially love the one in Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty right now
What are your favorites?
This week we're talking about Rocket League.
It hit an all time high player count of over 1M concurrent players.
I'm super happy for it!
Would you give it another shot or did the camera controls throw you off.
What's up Bluesky! It's been a minute since I engaged on here. Respond "Potato" to let me know people still see these posts at all.
