Honorable Mention to Frankenstein. Del Toro has not missed as for as I'm concerned. I think we had just reached the "I'm not sure if this is AI" phase of life and there was so much ugly "imagine if ai made whatever movie you wanted" stuff out.
This movie was filled with true art. I felt fulfilled

I forgot about Wake Up Dead Man.
It was my least favorite of the Knives Out but Glenn Close and Daniel Craig really just lit a fire in me with their various monologues.

I liked the stage show when i saw it 15?? years ago. I like musicals. I like the incarnation of Ariana Grande that existed 10 years ago. Made sense on paper.
Then they filmed it in a weird ass washed out color pallet, made it twice as long without adding enough music or interesting story beats.

The writer of this movie wanted us to know that they studied traumatic brain injuries in athletes and also the epstien files. I feel like no one would produce it so they made the plot unintelligible, added a bunch of sexual violence and silences and A24 picked it up

#BlackPhone2 was strangely religious but it was also a secret rebrand on Nightmare on Elm St: The Dream Warriors. Basically these kids develop their psychic powers to stop Ethan Hawke from killing them in their dreams. Minus points for not taking off his shirt this time 😩
