the most suspicious thing about it was the "release-notes.js" file but it's mostly because it had a lot of stuff bundled into it, including some Sanity CMS client code

I thought that my system was compromised, because I somehow had the extension installed, but nope

i'm disappointed by how the VSCode team phrased it. made it sound like an actual threat was found, and people reporting on it stated that "malware" was found (it wasn't)

i've looked into it and it's literally just lots of obfuscated JS

from personal experience, it generates such slop that once you're done adjusting whatever it generated, you've pretty much overwritten the entire thing

it's easier to just make it yourself lol
