Karte 2: THIS MAKES ME FURIOUS. It completely dismantles BJ's character. It is a jumbled mess of a story about these druggie girls and culminates in a random explosion and Black Jack kissing the 16 yo girl on the forehead. BJ swore off love after his canon gay breakup why did they make it pedo.
Karte 10: I never finished this episode because again, it bored me. Or maybe I did and forgot.
Karte 1: I'd say this one was boring too but there is a minute long unedited scene of Black Jack in the shower so I can't complain. But yeah besides BJ boobs, its a snooze. A lot of people like this one and ep 2 and idk what they see that I don’t.
Karte 5: BORINGGG I literally fell asleep the second time I watched this. The beginning was gripping tho.
Karte 12: The story would’ve played out exactly the same without BJ there, he had no agency over the story. It does however feel like one of the stories I've read before in the manga but not in a way that is fresh and new. The ep is a massive North Korean metaphor we've seen in many pieces of media.
Karte 3: There are a lot of action scenes that make this episode redeemable by the ending because the first half was bad and the main lady is a badass and hot so that gives it some bonus points. But this could’ve been saved by making BJ gay lol.
Karte 8: I'm unsure whether or not I should switch this place with Ep 3 but they're both equal in my eyes. It’s a very confusing story that revolves around a very clear environmentalist prospective. However the disease that Black Jack cures is super neat in my eyes. Good in theory not in practice.
Karte 6: This episode is the most infamous because of its visuals, but to people who have seen any glimpse of Black Jack before watching this will be very confused. It is probably the most insane, nonsensical episode but it is arguably one of the most entertaining.
Karte 11: The reason I rank this episode so highly is because of how close to canon it is compared to any other episode. It goes over and then expands upon Pinoko's backstory in a way that I find very compelling and well thought out. I consider this story canon in my mind.
Karte 7: I feel like this one probably has the most fluid story with the best pacing.
Karte 9: Its a very close tie with number 3, still controversial tho. I first wrote off this episode, but when I rewatched it... I had to see it again. It puts a major emphasis on body horror and is a stark reminder that Black Jack is an adult animanga. It is really fucking crazy and insane.
Karte 4: The number one spot was really hard for me to choose since these top four are all equal and I feel like putting Ep 4 as my no.1 is a bit of a hot take. My reason being this is the only one that feels EXACTLY like one of the misadventures I've read. It introduced BJ and Kiriko's beef well.

It's really hard to rate this gorgeous show because they're some episodes that are fantastic... but there are like 2 or 3 that are atrocious

finally can say i’ve watched the Black Jack OVA in its entirety now that I fully watched Karte 3: The Decoration of Maria and Her Comrades. I left a Letterboxd (same @ as here) review updating my ranking of all the eps since it was a karte with an ending that made all the bs at the start worth it.
