That is a “Mark Hamill’s Joker” level of wordplay right there
An adviser to a Gulf government said the prospect of an investment review by the wealthy states had caught the White House’s attention. They manage some of the world’s largest and most active sovereign wealth funds, and Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar last year pledged to invest hundreds of billions of dollars in the US after President Donald Trump visited the region. They are also big backers of sporting events around the world and have all been investing heavily domestically to develop their nations and diversify their economies. Any move that affects investments in the US or other western states may raise the pressure on Trump to seek a diplomatic strategy to bring the war to an end."
Interesting.

This new cycle of violence was all too predictable. For months, Israeli officials had signalled an escalation of their campaign against Hezbollah. Despite a ceasefire that ended a devastating 13-month war in 2024, Israel had continued with its bombing of Lebanon almost every day, saying the group was trying to rebuild its capabilities. Hezbollah, however, had remained quiet, aware that any move would inevitably be met with a powerful retaliation.

The AirTrain fare is apparently now $8.75, up a quarter as of today-ish I guess. What a racket.

'tis the season for extremely high energy bills 😓 if you're looking at your utility statement in NYC and shedding a tear, here's why:
This shows how Open Source will die. With anyone just being able to pipe existing code through an LLM and claiming that to be "clean room" (which is hogwash) no licensing can protect your work from being taken and monetized by anyone. The commons are actively being shredded in front of our eyes.
Smoky jungle frog, Guyana
It's hard to get a sense of scale from this, but the smoky jungle frog is the largest amphibian I've ever seen. We first saw it in Ecuador 20 years ago (my wife still refers to it simply as the "Hypnotoad"), and I had a chance to nab this photo this January in Guyana.
(Guinea pig-sized, I'd say.)
