oh no that's the opposite of good!

If you're currently heating your house, then at least the energy didn't go to waste. It's just a bit less efficient than your furnace.
If you're in the market for a new feeder, the Brome Squirrel Buster line (particularly the kinda-spendy Plus model) really does work.

Creeping Fingerwort (Lepidozia reptans) in Worcestershire at East Creech on Saturday.
The screw, until she grabs a pliers!
The 3/16" drive is too small for a 5mm and too large for a 4mm, iirc.
Are you *right* on the coast? CA has a pretty steep coast so it's easy to be 10 ft above sea level already.
Kinda fun! Felt it in San Mateo. Fill out a Felt Report to help with citizen science, I believe it's this one: earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/...
agreed
RJ-45 is just such a nice solution, being cheap and with plenty of conductors and locking. Is the issue waterproofing? XLR isn't more waterproof, I don't think?
E-Stop I could imagine using some sort of current sense (short 5V to ground and trigger the stop on a current threshold).
Seems like no. How could you even get the CAN lines, ground, and power over three wires? If ground were just for a voltage reference, you could filter the CAN lines I suppose, but it also carries 1 A if the power line does.

look at that, I have a fancy domain handle now
yeah for sure! And robust. We use RS-485 for the fire control networks on FLG pieces

Per @aoc.bsky.social and co., I'm here to celebrate echo chambers and preaching to the choir. Which sings back, beautifully. "The primary assumption behind the idea that we shouldnβt preach to the choir is that oneβs proper audience is oneβs enemies, not oneβs allies." harpers.org/archive/2017...
My "left wing twitter" is like 30% bird pictures and for some reason that makes perfect sense?
these are lovely!
Signal is also open source, and there is something of a network effect (aka critical mass of users) to it that makes it worth using, especially for quick and easy encrypted communication if it's urgently needed.
good good art by good good people
yes ma'am
I just got an OP-1 so now I am going to be very bleepy and bloopy for a while over here, don't mind me
I've been doing that for me for a while but I guess I've got some bandwidth to shut down a few more people in any given day
I was just thinking to myself about how nice a cult this is, maybe I should be saying that out loud more often
I honestly don't know what the right answer is here. I have faced situations like this before and asked myself "am I the representative of all trans people who has to fight right now? Or can I just be a person doing my own person thing under an unfair situation?"
I hear you. And I do personally wish she had at least made her statement a stronger rhetorical rejection of the situation. I wonder what the ideal form of "standing up" looks like then? Should she say that she will refuse to comply, and will have to be dragged out of the women's restroom on day one?
I think it's more complicated than that. Does this mean that any trans official will necessarily be fighting trans-themed battles from day one? That means they will be less effective at other causes, which will make voters less inclined to vote for them.
Welcome! It's not so bad.
I can't shake the feeling that every take I read on threads is bad. It feels like there is a culture of missing the point and having big feelings anyway.
