Joe Rogen is just a more moderate Alex Jones.

Surely you mean PEI sheet not PP sheet.

I mean there are still very real performance gains (particularly when it comes to energy efficiency) between nodes so newer nodes are still better… but the scaling laws are different than they were some years ago. Important to look at benchmarks of chips by third parties to see real world changes.

3 nm process - Wikipedia

I don’t care what the process is as those number have nothing to do with actual transistor sizes and haven’t for over a decade. It’s marketing mostly.
Eg what they say in the third paragraph:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3_nm_pr...

Yep M1 is plenty fast enough still. I think I can get another 2 years out of my M1 Max before it’s feeling slow and then I’ll have gotten 7 years out of it which is about right for a laptop I think.

It’s inconvenient and somewhat costly to initially setup but buy physical media and rip to self-hosted Jellyfin. Fully legal and cheaper than streaming. Bonus: your library gradually grows over time and stuff doesn’t disappear when some exec just decides they want to stop paying actors residuals.

I did also realize most of my posts actually were backed up here because I had my account followed by @ap.brid.gy

It does look like some of the images aren’t there for whatever reason (my guess is it’s just an href to a url that no longer exists on the instance) but it got the videos clips!

It really is a first hand blow to the argument of the resilience of the fediverse. The argument was that if things went haywire at one instance you could always just migrate to a new instance…maybe not, it seems.

Yep. Sad to learn the backups are gone. That’s crazy.

If I had UBI and it were actually enough to cover a bit of housing and food, I’d be working on some seriously cool stuff all day.

I largely support the Thingiverse purchase by MyMiniFactory. It needs new life and I think AI generated models are a scourge, currently. I could see a day where AI could ethically and efficiently produce a quality model but for now the ethics and quality of the process and results are awful.

Abolished. I don’t want a reformed fascist institution filled with neo Nazis. Such an institution does not exist for the benefit of America and it’s unwise to try and reform it.

My favorite use case is printing alternatives to otherwise overpriced repair parts that are priced to nudge you into replacing the whole damn thing.

Looks like they released the .f3d source as well. IE, this is not a real point of contention.

Good to see. I didn’t see them there when I first looked.

On one hand I appreciate that they’re at least sharing the step files…but that’s only slightly better than sharing just an stl of the printer pieces. It’s not really the β€œsource” if it’s not native to the design tool it was made in. I have mixed feelings about a new license. xkcd.com/927/

That said, I think if had to guess the behavior without looking at documentation I would guess that it's still available in the `else` so that's slightly more natural seeming to me...but I wouldn't be frustrated to learn it wasn't and the rust way would bias towards less resource usage.

15.12.2025 16:23 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

Well my opinion on this is weak either way because regardless of the final convention, there are ways to write the code to make memory free when you want and they don't seem particularly burdensome. Eg. if Rust-like you could just declare the viable outside the if in a using block to keep it scoped.

15.12.2025 16:21 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 2 πŸ“Œ 0

I don't know that it shouldn't be available in the else block. In that specific example I can't imagine one would often be using `resource` in the else block but what if it went into a few `else if()` blocks first? I could imagine a need for `resource` to still be around in an `else if()` block.

Ladybird is the only browser not downstream chromium or downstream Firefox and it’s not ready just yet. Also wouldn’t use software made by Brendan Eich (Brave) for a bunch of reasons.

I wish BambuStudio, PrusaSlicer, OrcaSlicer, and Cura could all agree to work towards using standards compliant 3mf as much as possible instead of creating proprietary data structures inside 3mf. The current software interoperability is really poor. Too many flavors of 3mf exist.

Like maybe in the β€œquality” settings there could be a toggle to filter out slop.

Spotify put an AI generated song in my weekly recommendations and ugh. Wish there was a way to globally turn that off.

When Blender finally comes to iPad (assuming that project isn’t abandoned before completion) it will happily use all the power Apple can put in them but consumers will still be better off running the same thing on any computer.

Scented trash bags also repel people. You can’t make trash smell better by putting it in a scented trash bag.
