Did my first dried flower arrangement today. It’s amazing how many flowers you can get into such a tiny vase!

It's surprisingly hard to sign up for print magazines now, assuming they even have a print magazine. I don't want a bunch of digital crap in addition to the print magazine. I'm already buried in digital crap. I just want to flip through the pages of a magazine with a cup of tea on a weekend morning.

Art & magazines for dreary February days Art and magazines help me get through the last days of February.

February is always rough for me. It's not quite spring but the days are longer but it's also still cold so I have to push myself to go outside. This February I found a few new magazines that I've enjoyed and wanted to highlight some of the artists in them.

She just passed a few years ago, as the anti vaxx movement was getting louder and louder. And yes, it was awful for her to see how people were talking about vaccines and healthcare when she knew firsthand how they can change your life for the better.

Things I really enjoyed today:
- hearing a new metal band that was very fun and somewhere between pop and power metal
- did a PR benchpress and PR lat pulldown at the gym
- watched the birds chirp and sing and chase each other
- walked to the grocery store and looked at people's gardens on the way

One of our family friend's caught polio as a kid, before the vaccine came out. It ruined her right leg, causing nerve damage and mobility issues. She became a pediatric nurse specifically because she wanted to help make sure kids got access to treatment and vaccines that she didn't have.

I like to listen to power metal or symphonic metal when I work out. I feel like every week I stumble on a new (to me) metal band and it's been a really fun part of my workouts.

πŸ˜† Hopefully people went and listened to it! There's such good stuff in there.

This is one of the reasons why I think it's so important to have fictional stories about hope and joy. First we imagine, and then we create. If all we're imagining and consuming are oppressive, violent, or cruel outcomes, that's what we'll end up creating in reality, too.

This is SO GOOD! Also this album of hers is *wonderful*. I know we briefly talked about it before, but I keep re-listening to it.

I read every volume of Calvin and Hobbes, front to back. I think this is the last comic in the final volume, but either way, I remember crying when I got to this one. It was such a joyful way to end the comics and I was also so sad that they were done. Joyful exploration for everyone!

Thoroughly enjoying this issue of Orion. It's all about cryptids and is a lovely exploration of art, nature, fiction, and a little bit of mystery. This is a new to me magazine and is quickly becoming a favorite!

This was so fun! I got down to 1300 okay. I understood a portion of 1200 and the last two got me. When I was in college one of my classes was translating Beowulf from Old English. I *loved* it and this was a bit reminiscent of doing that.

I bought the rest of the supplies for my orchid cabinet and am so excited to finish this project. So far all I've done is put in an old larch trunk from one of my favorite trees that got crushed in a storm a couple years back. She's gonna be the substrate for several of the orchids.

Love seeing governments asking how they can improve services for their people. Also it would be so fun to participate or facilitate!

Single vaccine could protect against all coughs, colds and flus, researchers say A Stanford University team have tested their nasal spray vaccine in animals but still need to do human clinical trials.

This is the type of technology I'm excited about. Vaccines are a modern miracle.

I had to get a different feeder because the squirrels would sit there and eat all the food in one sitting. They're relentless!

Waiting for spring is so hard at this point in winter. Lots of winter flowers are blooming, or even done blooming, and it looks like spring might finally be here but all of the spring flowers are so S L O W. Bring me the blooms!
