I get migraines from raw onion-family, so dishes that make a feature of raw alliums (onion, garlic, shallot, spring onion etc) are either a no-go or feel like they are missing half the texture/flavour. Anyone have sensible suggestions please?

My Mum is basically unable to communicate and has no memory. When I visit I say Hi, it's me j, your daughter. Then I sit with her and tell her vaguely how various family members are doing - I know she doesn't remember them, but it helps feel included. After that I read gentle children's stories...

Expect to feel guilty. But don't stay with that feeling. The care they need is where they are moving to. It will sneak up on you. Acknowledge it then let it go. NEVER expect them to know who you are - don't test them. Arrive, say hello and who you are, what your connection is, with a loving smile.
