Person Who Doesn't Realize Wrestling Fans Know It's Scripted is such a perfect Bluesky character
Oh man that play by Yannick Bright getting the ball from Pirani using the sole. How is it possible that UNH recognised that this guy had something in him but no pro or semi-pro Italian team saw it? Cooked soccer country unfortunately. (Hey MLS please have that play in your recap video thx)
D.C. United is not bad. At least is not *bad* bad. They have a plan. Peltola is v good, they press well and although they lack in the final third this team is not a disaster with the ball. Still, teams that are quite better than them are going to lose vs Miami bc “talent”. Hard for them not to
Funny thing is that DCU hasn't had a bad plan here, with a repeated emphasis on clustering when Bright/De Paul get on the ball in midfield & driving into the (almost disrespectfully large) gap they leave behind them.
Just handed over 2 goals by losing focus against a vastly more talented side.
Post Messi, I’d imagine, the cap in MLS might look quite different and the U22 initiative might not be there, tbf
Mateo Silvetti: Baller
Also lovely pressure from Berterame!
I was about to say “De Paul needed to hit that first time” but it took me half a second to be proven wrong. But that’s a textbook use of the sole of the foot, it’s such a quick move that it allows to not lose a half step to the defender and get even more space to hit the shot off
Italy players are celebrating home runs by taking a shot of espresso
Time runs out for basically every coach in every situation, and 6+ years (plus a trophy!) is a legit run. Orlando were a complete joke before Pareja got there.
But things have gotten worse, not better – one win in 13! Feels like the bell's about to toll.
This is Defcon 1 stuff. Since getting past Toluca in the Leagues Cup quarters they're 1-9-3 with a -18 goal differential (was -17 when I started this tweet).
The roster's the problem – spending *that* money on B. Ojeda was wild, and these Brazilians are out of their depth – but Papi might be done.
I simply do not understand how Orlando, after seeing what happened when Vancouver last season, decided to keep a voice who simply had run its course within the locker room. No disrespect to Pareja. But it was written on the wall last season that there was not a lot left to give on either side
Maxi Moralez 2-0 Father Time
A+ nickname
It goes against every single fibre of my soul to trash a young player on his debut in a new country, so I won’t talk about Luis Otavio himself, who can’t be as bad as he looks today. Rather on who decided that his pricey transfer fee promised a better $ return than Thomas Williams’ cheap contract
Maxi Moralez 1-0 Father Time
“Wrexham’s fairytale”
the suburbs were founded on a politics of silence and look how that turned out for everyone. silence was used explicitly as a justification for redlining because some (racialized) populations were 'inherently loud.' the expected quietude of women and children is its own separate can of worms!!
the degree to which people feel entitled to control the actions and expressions of others only becomes more unhinged with time. it's how you get HOAs that don't let kids play on the street and the cops called for every little thing and the fucking airpod world where no one ever speaks to one another
it's not your right to quiet the world. you as a human being are obligated to be in the world with other people even if that sucks shit sometimes. my neighbors listen to loud music and sometimes it's annoying but i also feel safe knowing my neighbors are okay and that if i need them they're there
some of you love being so fucking ignorant because the truth makes you uncomfortable. your quietude is political, and the politics - especially the biopolitics - of silence have more often than not been historically violent
It’s not simply a bad start for Orlando City, it’s:
Punched in the mouth by Michael Bradley’s kids at home.
Second half collapse at the hands of their archrival.
Maxime Crépeau RC 19 minutes into the first road match of the season.
Atrocious vibes.
At the very least since he made this on this pitch he can just blame how tiny it is and say he’s used to a bigger box
Maxime Crepeau, what the hell just happened? Total brain fart
Personally, fwiw, I was glad MLS took out the analysis part of Wrap Up and instead is now showing just the highlights. People are tired of Stephen A. Smiths, MLS tried to create their own SAS for the past three years. But there’s simply no interest for more of that shit
You just described the experience of watching a top 5 league in the world… at four times the price of MLS. Anyway, I just disagree with the notion that what fans want is *any* kind of state media. I don’t think the tv is the medium to provide the kind of analysis that fans really want.
Sure, not saying MLS is perfect in their media strategy. Lots of complaints from me (like getting the Fox games to CBS). What I will note though, is that fans across sports (and the world) are asking for the type of deal MLS have, and are all tired of the “analysis” channels like ESPN provide
(Especially when at the same time, during these 10 years, I’ve seen people in the space constantly talking up the “ambitions” of competing with MLS of a league that is currently scoring own goal after own goal in a CBA negotiation, regurgitating their PR and selling it as “journalism”)
I’ve been following this league from afar for 10 years, and it’s been 10 years I’ve heard nothing but constant talk of missed opportunities to change the trajectory of a league from people in this space. I’m sorry but as an ignorant fan, I’ll maintain a sincere skepticism, at the risk of being wrong
