the short of it, fedi culture is rotten to the core + you are at the personal whims of whoever runs your instance, so any beefs they have become yours as well

content warnings/subject lines, markdown, private posts, follow reqs etc are things i miss about fedi.

the userbase i largely do not. my blocked instance count exceeds 60. i genuinely think hosting your own instance and being able to control what federates to you is the only way to use fedi

the only reason i'm here and not on fedi is because i can self-host a PDS

...okay, well, there are other reasons. that i'm not on fedi, i mean.
