Haven't heard back from the California Assembly on AB 1043 yet, but I did have a very helpful discussion with Rep. Paschal's office about the Colorado age-attestation bill: https://aphyr.com/posts/408-colorado-sb26-051-age-attestation

@dkub It's definitely one of those reads that reinforces a sort of... altruistic existentialism, if that makes sense
[Clair Obscur]
I love that Myst and Clair Obscur asked the same question and took it to totally different places
Oh wow and it's on Bandcamp too! https://clairobscurexpedition33.bandcamp.com/album/clair-obscur-expedition-33-original-soundtrack
Just cannot say enough good things about the Clair Obscur score. I've had it stuck in my head for weeks now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FIMsKKvBRM
OK so I maintain like... I dunno, dozens of OSS programs that could be called "applications" which are distributed in package managers that could be interpreted as "covered application stores". Do I understand correctly that under CA law Jepsen, a program for testing distributed systems [β¦]
Multiple Apple tech support people have asked me "Do you have a Mac, or a computer?" and it makes it sound like Apple has sort of given up on the whole computer thing
Borrowed the boy's scooter for a little trip today and gosh these are great little city-traversers
Reminded, yet again, that the TeX people really, *really* care about good documentation. https://ctan.math.illinois.edu/macros/latex/contrib/koma-script/doc/scrguide-en.pdf

[Pillion]
@gdog Thank you for this, G. You've got such a careful eye for thinking about D/s.
[Pillion]
My take on Ray from Pillion (2025) after the enlightening exchanges in the thread mentioned above. I try to wrestle with his complexity: partly cruel, partly caring; partly brave, partly cowardly.
The intentional directorial constraint on Rayβs background and context leaves rich [β¦]
Steel frames are bolted to the wall with the shelves floating loose, then the shelves flip down to rest flat.
The supports bolt into the ceiling, and have standard leveling feet. Shelves are notched to fit closer to the front.
Under-shelf lighting plans
Trying to figure out what to do about a ridiculous triangular shelf system for a vanity. I canβt make it look good.
Early concept sketches
A 3D model of two shelves, both tubular steel supporting wood planks.
Under the bottom shelf is an embedded light strip
The steel frames have brackets for wall mounting which sit hidden behind the shelf
Elevation
Designing some kitchen/bathroom shelves... trying to get it so the lighting and support bolts are all nice and clean.
[Expedition 33]
Just finished the "Epilogue". I think this is the best writing/worldbuilding I've ever seen from a game. Intensely moving.
Imagine the biggest, hottest bears you've ever seen, but they're stuck at the DMV
I don't know how to explain this but The Guy Site is the pornographic equivalent of watching semi trucks park.
Every few years pandoc or xetex changes something and I launch myself back into the maelstrom of "trying to make tables work in multicolumn environments". I know enough TeX to typeset things, but not enough to truly debug it. :-(
@itstheraybear.bsky.social Hell yeah Ray Bear
Multiple testing crews missed it--doesn't show up in the air or any of the fittings! But every few months I'd go down there and get a whiff of something so faint I couldn't tell if it was gas, something decaying, or I was imagining it.
Finally found the gas leak in the basement--or rather, right outside. It's almost undetectable, but diffusing through the wall. Guessing there must be a break in the buried pipe and that's permeating through the soil and back into the house.
@growingbrovine.farm $370 is a lot of money but... he's a *really* good man
@growingbrovine.farm Right? On both fronts

Just got back from seeing Pillion out with a bunch of leathermen. It's surprisingly funny and tender, and close to its subjects. I liked it.
Ray's behavior at the end is jarring. Conflict, rejection, rupture--there are lots of ways that D/s relationships end poorly. But to deliver a [β¦]

Made it! Feeling a lil fluffy lately, trying to cut down on the snacks and bring back cardio.
