it's like they're all reading from the same script istg. you call somebody out for vibecoding and they hit back with the "all code is vibecoded now" or "everybody is using ai now" or they'll hide behind literally any miniscule involvement to talk themselves out of their own insecurity

either they'll be the ones pulling up the ladder or (at the very least) they'll be on the ladder while someone else pulls it up

you either gotta bench press a truck or seal row an entire house. pecs or upper back gotta block out the sun. it's 2026, time to get with the program.

React, Electron, and LLMs have a common purpose: the labour arbitrage theory of dev tool popularity Writing at the end of the world, from HveragerΓ°i, Iceland

tech decisions are made based on what's popular, what's easy to hire for, and ultimately what makes developers more replaceable

ibm circa 1940, but of course the ai boosters/influencers/thought-leaders will find a way to explain why it's still important that their continued usage is ok actually

yeah those goalposts keep moving.

I haven't kept up with the research but my issues are with the ethics of the tech rather than the capabilities.

some of us detest it and won't let it anywhere near our codebases

muddying the waters is the point

I've seen people say "why are you so mad about ai? it's helping with cancer research - haven't you heard about protein folding?"

musicians would never use suno, but they don't care whether a plugin was vibecoded. hell, they might even relish the opportunity to stick it to the devs that make such outrageously overpriced software! despite the fact that many of us barely break even.

27.02.2026 15:21 πŸ‘ 7 πŸ” 1 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

musicians being uncritical of this is really just another instance of the larger issue: of course an author wouldn't use chatgpt for their novels, but midjourney for the artwork is fine. visual artists won't touch AI for their work, but they'll listen to AI music without issue.
