Danish Scurvygrass at Fowey today with the Bodinnick Ferry in the background.
Cochlearia danica
Sea mouse-ear on the sea wall by the Bodinnick Ferry, Fowey today. A new monad record.
Cerastium diffusum
A patch of Sea Storksbill by the cafe at Hannafore, Looe today, not recorded in this area since 1992, so nice to refind it.
Erodium maritimum
Veronica hederifolia (called Ivy-leaved Speedwell in the UK)
Well done compiling it, though I suspect more species are discovered every year. I've had to learn a whole new urban flora when I moved to Cornwall.
It seems a shame we can't add a photo to a spreadsheet entry, though I don't know how that would work. An example would be Stellaria neglecta with its two subspecies (common near where I live).
I always use the App when recording out of Cornwall as it's simpler than emailing various VCRs along with a c.v. of relevant experience. However, it drains my phone battery quite a bit over the course of 2-3 hours.
The irony of this is that the Irecord, once approved, has a photo attached in the BSBI DDb, whereas my long list sent to my VCR has none, even if I took some.
I hadn't noticed! Could be a virus like in Wallflower flowers?
Ramsons and Grey Willow coming into flower in mid Cornwall today.
Allium ursinum
Salix cinerea
A sunny afternoon brought out some small flowered species in north Cornwall today: Sea mouse-ear, Common Chickweed and Red dead-nettle.
Should be called the Wood wood-rush π
Oddly, they're not as hairy as other wood-rushes!
The first decent looking Greater Stitchwort flower I've seen this year that has not been made scruffy by incessant rain. Mid Cornwall today (and yes, it was raining today on and off).
#wildflowerhour
Stellaria holostea
I was rather surprised to find a Hairy Wood-rush in flower today in woodland in mid Cornwall, but very welcome nonetheless. #wildflowerhour They're very thin, so difficult to photograph in situ.
Luzula pilosa
Common Hyacinth on a quiet rural road verge, about 500m from the nearest house or garden, so it was likely dumped on the roadside some years back, though no evidence of that remains. Mid Cornwall today for #wildflowerhour
Hyacinthus orientalis
The first Pink Purslane flowers of 2026 for me from mid Cornwall today, for #wildflowerhour and a repeat of the rosette in case you find some not in flower and wonder what you've found.
Claytonia sibirica
Moschatel, or Town Hall Clock, this has put up a flower when only 2cm wide. Mid Cornwall today for #wildflowerhour
Adoxa moschatellina
A rosette of Pink Purslane and a tiny young 1cm wide Moschatel in south Cornwall woodland today. I managed to find both in flower nearby, but I always find vegetative ID interesting.
Claytonia sibirica
Adoxa moschatellina
Kent was the same as Dorset, however, many species flower later here, such as Wood Anemones. I can't make much sense of it for Cornwall. Perhaps the Atlantic climate takes longer to warm up in spring that further east.
Blackthorn is starting to flower in several areas here in Cornwall and the Cherry Plum has been in blossom only a couple of weeks, so quite an overlap down here.
Cornish Ramping Fumitory by a pavement near Newquay today, in heavy rain.
Fumaria occidentalis
Green Hellebore in mid Cornwall today. Not native to the county, but itβs been recorded here for over a century, so a well established neophyte.
Helleborus viridis
A young patch of naturalised Fringecups on a stream bank in mid Cornwall today. Itβs quite widespread along rivers here.
Tellima grandiflora
Turkish wood spurge growing out of a roadside wall in mid Cornwall today.
Euphorbia amygdaloides subsp robbiae
Germander Speedwell flowering now in patches here and there. Mid Cornwall today.
Veronica chamaedrys
One never quite knows what one may find in Cornwall. Clearly planted but thriving.
Dicksonia antarctica I suspect.
Lots in flower in sunny (yes thatβs th amazing part) south Cornwall yesterday
It can self seed as Iβve found it in pavement cracks in Kent
No new species in flower today for #wildflowerhour so no photos taken, other than some views. 112 species recorded at Higher Porthpean Cornwall and a lovely sunny 15 degrees for a change!
