A patch of Sea Storksbill by the cafe at Hannafore, Looe today, not recorded in this area since 1992, so nice to refind it.

Well done compiling it, though I suspect more species are discovered every year. I've had to learn a whole new urban flora when I moved to Cornwall.

It seems a shame we can't add a photo to a spreadsheet entry, though I don't know how that would work. An example would be Stellaria neglecta with its two subspecies (common near where I live).

I always use the App when recording out of Cornwall as it's simpler than emailing various VCRs along with a c.v. of relevant experience. However, it drains my phone battery quite a bit over the course of 2-3 hours.

05.03.2026 22:37 πŸ‘ 3 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

The irony of this is that the Irecord, once approved, has a photo attached in the BSBI DDb, whereas my long list sent to my VCR has none, even if I took some.

I hadn't noticed! Could be a virus like in Wallflower flowers?

Should be called the Wood wood-rush 😊

Oddly, they're not as hairy as other wood-rushes!

The first decent looking Greater Stitchwort flower I've seen this year that has not been made scruffy by incessant rain. Mid Cornwall today (and yes, it was raining today on and off).

I was rather surprised to find a Hairy Wood-rush in flower today in woodland in mid Cornwall, but very welcome nonetheless. #wildflowerhour They're very thin, so difficult to photograph in situ.

Common Hyacinth on a quiet rural road verge, about 500m from the nearest house or garden, so it was likely dumped on the roadside some years back, though no evidence of that remains. Mid Cornwall today for #wildflowerhour

Kent was the same as Dorset, however, many species flower later here, such as Wood Anemones. I can't make much sense of it for Cornwall. Perhaps the Atlantic climate takes longer to warm up in spring that further east.

Blackthorn is starting to flower in several areas here in Cornwall and the Cherry Plum has been in blossom only a couple of weeks, so quite an overlap down here.
