This week is Gender Equality Week, it is not just a time to reflect and celebrate but a time to act. Women still remain underrepresented in leadership, and too many face violence and inequities. As Parliament resumes, we must place equality at the centre of our work.

Earlier this week, I had the opportunity to meet with A.I. experts at Canada’s Vector Institute in Toronto. We gained valuable insights into how Vector’s A.I. technology is transforming healthcare in Canada and globally, and discussed how Canada can lead in A.I. safety. @vectorinstitute.ai

As Nelson Mandela once said, "our youth are the best investment we can make for the future. Nurture and educate them, lift them up and let them lead." Today marks International Youth Day. In my work, I ensure that youth voices are heard, recognizing them as essential to creating a fairer society.

Emancipation Day marks the day slavery was abolished in the British Empire in 1833.

It was a major step toward freedom, but the fight for justice didn’t end there—and it still continues today.

This day is both a reminder of progress and a call to keep pushing for equity and inclusion.

The graphic is on a light blue background. The text reads: Measles is very contagious. If you're not vaccinated, 9 out of 10 people exposed will get infected. Good news: Two doses of the MMR vaccine give you up to 99% protection. In the middle of the graphic it has one stick figure in red, with an arrow pointing at a line of 10 other stick figures - one of which is blue and 9 of which are also red. The graphic has the Science Up First logo at the bottom.

Measles is serious — but preventable. Two doses of the MMR vaccine give up to 99% protection. It’s safe, effective, and saves lives. It's normal to have questions, but don’t fall for myths. Learn more at: ScienceUpFirst.com/Measles

Measles spreads before symptoms appear and can linger in the air for up to 2 hours. Vaccines are a powerful way to protect your child’s health. Get your children school-ready—check their vaccine records and make sure they're up to date!
