It feels like Iraq all over again. Except they're barely half-assing the sequel. Saddam Hussein was a monster: also, war w/ Iraq was a very stupid idea. At least for that war though, they actually made the effort to pretend they believed in WMD.
A modified gadsen flag wherein the snake is wearing a bike helmet and the text reads "Don't tread on my bike lane"
ICYMI, weβve heard now from several reliable sources that federal agencies may remove a substantial chunk of the 15th St NW protected bike lanes near the National Mall.
This is some BS.
Join us on Friday for a protest ride.

Last square 24 make 25/25 of #TranspoBINGO! I haven't been to the Botanic Gardens in over a decade at least! Many of the gardens are closed, but taking my time in the Hawaiian plant section cause it's nice and warm. Will try to post pics later my phone is not cooperating
Square 21 of #TranspoBINGO Planetarium at the Air and Space Museum narrated by Lupita Nyong'o. Trying to post w/o pics due to internet issues
Bagged bok choy, mandarins, onions, and apples at Bread for the City! Very friendly, bustling environment. Was gifted a banana and onion and rescued an avocado. Square 15 for #TranspoBINGO complete! Even gave away a RideFlow DC/Upskilling Labs sticker and talked about #TranspoBINGO 23/25
The state of the board is 22/25 for #TranspoBINGO, and I'm not done yet. This girl has PLANS for the final stretch tomorrow!
Next up, RideScore DC a sister project to RideFlow DC. Housed in Civic Tech DC, this project is working on giving a cyclist safety score for every segment of DC streets. Had a blast, pitching and working with my team at project night. Square 15 #TranspoBINGO
There I fixed it! I'm no artist for #TranspoBINGO square 20, but I was sad when the B30 became the A76. My stop moved from right next to the metro with generous seating to crossing 2 streets and no seating. I see it's closer to the elevator, but it's nice to visualize some seating in that space.
Took Feather (my Glion scooter) to complete square 22 of #TranspoBINGOand see the monks! I don'tknow a more famous group of active transiters right now. Missed Aloka
Sandra introduces the program to a full room at MLK Library.
EChO presents her app and the survey preference for safety-first routing.
Ride Flow DC app shows multiple active transpo modes.
Erin marks her βGame Stats: Track Your Transpo Impactβ square with a top emoji.
Marked my βTrack Your Transpo Impactβ #TranspoBINGO square for attending the Upskilling Labβs event for Ride Flow DC, an app designed to include multiple active transpo modes, and Ride Score DC, which will include a safety layer in route recommendations (eg protected bike lane vs paint). Cool stuff!
Oh, and there was like 8 NGs half a block from where I live for the 2nd time today. I literally can't leave my house without being reminded that this city is under occupation.
CW: On my last stretch home, I witnessed police brutality. NG and mpd completely decked this guy for no discernible reason. He complained the zip was too tight, and he was losing feeling in his left arm. They didn't care.
TranspoBINGO also gives you a bit of a pulse on this city, and the overwhelming impact of law enforcement and federal agents was unavoidable. I've mentioned the noteworthy examples but I couldn't even count all instances of presence, and I didn't want it to dominate this thread.
It's magical being surrounded by this cross-pollination of civic tech, transit enthusiasts, start-up world, librarians, cyclists, former feds and just generally cool, nerdy people trying to make the world a better place.
This day really highlighted both the best, and the ugly in DC. The Upskilling Labs was birthed as a resilient and powerful response to all the federal layoffs. We have such amazing community resources like libraries, playgrounds, and community centers, and some cool modes of transportation.
Shout out to @sandramoscoso.bsky.social for organizing this and the fabulous stickers! Come to the TranspoBINGO happy hour to get one!
No new squares, but I'd be remiss if I didn't mention this lovely event by The Upskilling Labs that cosponsored this as a #TranspoBingo event with RideFlow DC. I had an absolute blast at this event! It was also lovely to see all the projects of the newest cohort.
Current state of my #TranspoBINGO board
People shouted that there was no space. They squeezed in anyways jamming the doors in the process. It was a very tense situation with people loudly criticizing them. They were not welcome on that train.
No pics for redline as my phone was dead and out of space, but had an interesting incident at Farragut West where mpd held up and boarded a very full train. One pushed his way in with his bike and said we'd need to make space for 28 of them.
3rd leg was heading home and was a bit of a hike. Walked to the D36 and stared wistfully at the totally protected but fully covered in snow bike lane thinking there has got to be a better bicycle to public transit combo that would make this more convenient. I need RideFlow DC routing now! Lol
For square 14, I was def hoping try some seafood place. I used to get my salmon from Whole Foods, but kinda quit them. Since then I've been trying to find a new place. So, off to Ivy City Smokehouse. My phone was very full though, so not a lot of pics. Cute adjoining bar that I need to revisit.
Completing square 18 with the 2nd leg of the journey going from Rosedale Recreation Center to the new to me Ivy City neighborhood with what seems a long route for something not so far away. I ended up walking the first bus
