A chart illustrating the productivity increases in software engineering from AI use, comparing greenfield and brownfield projects. It shows that greenfield projects gain 35-40% on simple tasks and 10-15% on complex asks, while brownfield projects see increases of 15-20% on simple tasks and 0-10% on complex tasks. The chart is divided into quadrants based on task complexity (high vs. low) and project maturity (greenfield vs. brownfield).
A study made by Stanford presented by @yegordb.bsky.social showed that increase in developer speed using AI is true, but not as much as the companies that sell the product make it out to be.
This number aligns a lot more with my own experience.
