🧵 Thread on beautiful data centers:
MareNostrum 4 (Barcelona SCC): Often called "the most beautiful data center in the world," this facility is housed inside the Torre Girona Chapel, a deconsecrated 19th-century church.
When fully installed, it will have a peak performance of 13.9 Petaflops.
Microsoft on Reddit won't like it when you suggest Linux as a better alternative, specially when they're talking about adding AI slop and bloat to all their apps, including explorer! I used Linux as a desktop for years, and then FreeBSD, and I'm getting ready to switch again this year!
This is my favorite video from 2025. What an interesting question to answer! Knowing this to be true can change everything. youtu.be/vKeCr-MAyH4

Chat Control is set to move forward. Denmark was convinced the vote would fail, so they postponed and restructured the bill. Whatever it takes, as long as it passes, right? Is this democracy, or authoritarianism? #StopChatControl www.telepolis.de/article/Die-...
For anyone out there managing #OpenSource projects on #GitHub, how common is it for people to comment on your #Issues to try and signal some sort of contribution, without adding anything useful? You know, like making a blatantly redundant suggestion. How do you handle it?
If you fall asleep in democracy, you wake up in authoritarianism. youtube.com/watch?v=PkYl...
Thank you Joachim! Seriously, dude. This makes a world of difference! www.politico.eu/article/one-...

In the EU, there's Chat Control under discussion and, in the US, they're birthing a dystopia as well. Authoritarianism is on the rise everywhere. Governments don't have our best interest at heart. What we need is tech savvy people capable of creating independent systems. fortune.com/2025/09/28/l...
Everybody is rising against chat control, and you should too! Spread the message. Speak up! #StopChatControl tuta.com/blog/chat-co...
First, they'll take your privacy, then they'll take your freedom. Let's keep fighting for our privacy! Make yourself heard, while you still have the freedom to do so. #StopChatControl www.mozillafoundation.org/en/campaigns...
Germany is back to UNDECIDED. If Chat Control passes, this will be the end of the EU and the beginning of a police state, where privacy has no place and everybody must pay for the crimes of a few. #StopChatControl netzpolitik.org/2025/chatkon...
A few weird things that bring me happiness. One is the Chicago Manual of Style, with the Oxford commas, and non-spaced em dashes. The other is the beauty and simplicity of means, particularly the artithmetic and geometric means, where the first adds to divide, and the second multiplies to nth-root.
The #EU plans to remove privacy in your chat conversations and can falsely flag content as illicit. Politicans will be immune and you won't.

I've lost count of how many times they tried to pass something like this. They're trying tire us so they can beat us. If this passes, they're taking away two rights in one go: freedom of speech, and privacy. The sheep agree, safety first. 🐑
The end of the EU will begin with chat control. I'm sure autocracies are laughing at us. The "for your safety" argument is the way to turn a democracy into an authoritarian regime. If you don't want the European values to go down the drain and turn into a police state, go here: fightchatcontrol.eu
With dentist appointments, you just have to be OK with the fact that it’s never really ready or done. There’s always the next cavity. 😒😤
90s at its best! Back then we were still human. No bullshit. youtu.be/41GFlFz9Uy4
I just lost access to uBlock Origin and AutoPlayStopper on my Chrome installation. Up until now it had been possible to circumvent this, but not anymore. I was waiting for Brave to add tab group sync to the iOS app, but I might just switch before that happens. It's just freakin' annoying.
An image of a computer science geek, with glasses, sitting on a rocking chair, watching the end of the world (nuclear war) in the horizon, while drinking a summer beverage, with a tiny umbrella on the glass. The geek is dressed with a Hawaiian shirt, unbuttoned, with a t-shirt underneath. He has a slight metalhead look as well.
One thing AI does quite well is help express how I feel.
Deep down the purpose never really changed. I always end up where I'm meant to be, learning and sharing knowledge. Right now, I'm doing technical content creation, but making it free also makes it hard to make it sustainable. How can I make living from this? Dunno, but I owe it to myself to try.
A lot has happened since COVID, which was also the time when I finished my PhD. Besides having tried (and failed) to build a startup, I also worked as a Senior Data Scientist for 1.5y. Now, I'm mostly adrift, in a kind of limbo, where I've been rejecting corporate work, while looking for a purpose.
