Chicago is cool because you'll randomly run into @mattweiss.me in the Loop

Bikes and scooters stacked up before departure from OTC
SRO starting from Clybourn. With two bikes in the aisle too.
Metra I love you but we have got to patch the two random 2 hour gaps in service on the UP-NW line. Missing a 9:35am OB and a 12:35pm OB. This is the crowding on the 1:35pm #629 from OTC. Truly SRO even with the refurb seats where people are more inclined to double up.
screenshot of a facebook post from "The Walsh Group" who is a contractor for the I-290/I-88/I-294 interchange project under the purview of the Illinois Tollway, which is quoted in the post as an $800 million project. And how 300,000 vehicles a day move through this corridor.
This is highly unscientific, but it's fascinating to come across a highway project in the burbs like this with a dollar amount that so closely parallels what Transit is asking for in Chicagoland. $800 million for 300,000 vehicles per day, or $771 million for 1 million NE IL transit riders per day?
housing friends, are there any grants out there to help pay for home foundation repairs? The person is trying to update the home and sell it under market rate to help address the housing affordability crisis. This is in Whiteside County, IL @abundanthousingil.bsky.social

this is hardly the most pressing matter facing Chicago, but it would be so cool if we had a top level domain ".chi" for the city
