I get the approach, and the only game that really had me engage with it was 30XX as it tracks your highest score, so each time you beat a run you have to figure out what penalty you're next okay with adding on. you know after playing a lot of roguelikes I must say, I think I'm not the biggest fan of the difficulty modifier system of difficulty. I don't mean games adding shit on per run, but when games give you modifiers to add onto your run to make em harder, and then give u some difficulty number

Also!!! the fact that gimmicks are just interspersed throughout the spire in different spots. Didn't expect to see an act 4 gimmick on an act 2 boss. So very interesting. Love love love it

-heal right after fights. It's amazing. Final boss design also feels neat, taking artchetypes from the first game's act 3 pool but making them more fair- the queen doing time eater's job without feeling like a hard wall for instance.

the discard archetype getting buffed for silent is soooo fucking cool bro oh my god... and the vulnerable engine for ironclad??? and also the enemy design visually AND gameplay wise? amazing. You can really tell they realized how much they overdid the artifact in the first game haha
