"What if ARMY from 190 countries around the world gathered in Gwanghwamun at the same time?" On the 21st, the excitement of Seoul's Gwanghwamun Square, which will be dyed purple, will be broadcast live through Netflix to living rooms around the world. Ahead of BTS's historic full-group comeback, Netflix has begun what it calls a "flawless broadcast operation" that allows not even 0.1 seconds of error. It is a project designed so that hundreds of millions of fans can connect simultaneously and enjoy clear video without buffering. According to Netflix on the 15th, the stage "BTS Comeback Live: Arirang," which will take place at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul at 8 PM on the 21st, will be broadcast live on the Netflix service. Netflix has completed the construction of a live-stream-specific infrastructure to deliver this content stably in real time to more than 190 countries worldwide.

Netflix's most powerful weapon is its proprietary content delivery network called "Open Connect." Normally, internet data travels a long route through servers in the United States. However, Netflix installs its own cache servers (temporary data storage) in the servers of internet service providers around the world. This works like picking up an item already stocked at a neighborhood convenience store, instead of waiting for a product shipped from overseas. Because data is delivered immediately from the server closest to the viewer, screen freezing and delay are drastically reduced and picture quality becomes more stable. For Netflix, this provides uninterrupted high-definition video, while telecommunications companies benefit from greatly reduced overseas network usage costs.

Live video watched simultaneously by tens of millions of people creates enormous data loads. To solve this, Netflix applies video encoding technology that compresses the original footage in real time. Even with the same 4K high-definition video, this process reduces the data size to about one-tenth. Especially for live broadcasts where every second matters, sophisticated algorithms are deployed to maximize transmission speed while minimizing quality loss. Traffic-management technology is also crucial when large numbers of viewers connect at once. Load balancing technology distributes connection requests across multiple servers so that they do not concentrate on a single server. Just as more than 100,000 people rushed to apply for BTS concert tickets, massive numbers of viewers could flood the livestream simultaneously. This system manages the traffic in real time so that no server becomes overloaded.

Netflix also has a multi-encoder automatic switching system in case broadcasting equipment fails. Even if broadcasting equipment suddenly stops, backup equipment connects immediately, so quickly that viewers cannot notice any interruption. To ensure uninterrupted service, Netflix tests its system using simulations harsher than real-world conditions. They even conduct extreme training where operating servers are randomly forced to shut down, ensuring the system automatically finds alternate routes or activates backup servers. The goal is to create a viewing environment where even if technical problems occur, viewers never notice. A Netflix official said: "This BTS comeback live event will be a historic moment where viewers around the world share the same emotion in real time. We are concentrating all technological capabilities on creating a stable global streaming environment even in unexpected situations."
