I can't help to feel fascinated by the research, but scared AF on the applications. It feels like Huxley's "Soma". Plus, what's the point of taking psichedelycs, without the trip?

The era of impunity must end.
Governments can no longer shield themselves behind secrecy laws and “national security” to justify abusing the immense power these technologies provide.
As @wcathcart says in the @HBODocs film Surveilled:
“Unchecked spyware is a national security risk for free societies.”
They are accused of serious crimes of unauthorized access to and disclosure of confidential computer information, unauthorized access to personal data, and the commission of these crimes by a criminal group.
Today, we’ve filed a criminal complaint at the Spanish National Court against the CNI, Guardia Civil, and the manufacturers of Pegasus and Candiru.
A few days ago, WhatsApp secured a historic victory against NSO Group, setting a precedent that exposes the responsibility chain linking spyware vendors and their government clients to illegal espionage.
6/ As @ronanfarrow.bsky.social called it, mercenary spyware is a “Weapon of Mass Destruction.” Its widespread use threatens free society in ways we can’t underestimate.
