A huge fan of the Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics, UConn BB, Bruins. First person to create a webpage focused on a NFL team’s salary cap. Consider it a coincidence and not a correlation the Pats’ success since my coverage of their salary cap started in 2001.

5) Ravens are very top-heavy now between Lamar (likely on a new deal), Crosby, Stanley, Madubuike, and top-of-position deals for Hamilton and Roquan Smith. You can win with that formula, but you need your stars to be healthy and really productive.

4) No doubting that the Ravens needed serious help on the edge given trading away Oweh and Kyle Van Noy/Dre'Mont Jones hitting free agency. But I wonder whether spending enough to win the Hendrickson bidding + holding onto the first-rounders would have been a better way to attack those concerns.

3) Wonder if the inconsistent hit rates on their highly-drafted edge rushers in recent years (Oweh, Ojabo, Green, Isaac) led the Ravens to lean towards the sure thing on the edge. They've been very comfortable trusting their development machine on the edge for a long time now.

2) Genuinely shocked the Ravens were the team who traded two first-round picks. I know they'll have compensatory picks, extra selections here and there, but not the team I would have pegged to trade two first-rounders.

Maxx Crosby trade thread!

1) Two first-round picks for a non-QB who turns 29 before next season is a *lot*. Can't think of many recent precedents. Quinnen Williams trade raised the price tag for third contract-adjacent guys and this trade only cements that further. Will other teams follow suit?

Do not bet but if I did I am betting on Maxx Crosby to break the sacks record.

The Cowboys were willing to offer a first- and second-round pick to the Raiders for Maxx Crosby but, logically and understandably, Las Vegas opted for the two first-round picks from the Ravens.

It appears the Cowboys with the 12th overall pick were unwilling to top the Ravens’ offer.

This is my latest projection at the Patriots 2026 cap space number.

As of 7PM EST March 6th the Patriots have 62 players signed (not including Tommy DeVito) for the 2026 season. I am taking an educated guess at the adjustment number.

I am projecting LTBE incentives for players on the 2026 roster. For example, Carlton Davis has $2M in playing-time incentives that will be categorized LTBE (Likely to Be Earned) in 2026 since he played over 87% of the snaps in 2025.

Please note both Demario Douglas and Kayshon Boutte have played enough snaps during their rookie deals to increase their 2026 salary from $1.145M to the projected low RFA tender amount ($3.674M). Please see https://overthecap.com/proven-performance-escalator for more details on the PPE program.

$301,200,000 (Official 2026 League Cap) Plus
$47,274,868 (2025 Carryover) Plus
$5,554,386 (Projected LTBE/NLTBE and Guaranteed Salary Offset Adjustment)
Equals
$357,079,254 (2026 Patriots Projected Adjusted Cap Number) Minus
$979,200 (Off-season Workout Bonus - $340*90 players*32 sessions) Minus
$32,690,382 (Dead Money. 9.2338% of Patriots adjusted cap number)
Minus
$258,723,831 (Total Active Roster Cap Commitments)
Equals
$61,635,841 (Patscap's Projected 2026 Patriots Cap Space Number)

$223,735,563 = Patriots Cash Spending Excluding Unearned Incentives
Patriots Cash Spending to League Cap Ratio = 74.28%

I have the Patriots 2026 effective salary cap space number as $40,255,959 after projecting these future expenses

$3.2M in cap space to sign 2026 draft class.
The $3.2M is just a holder as no one knows now where the Patriots 2026 draft picks will actually be.
$5.25M for Practice Squad players and their elevations
$1,559,882 for earned NLTBE active roster bonuses. Expect this number to increase as players miss games during the 2025 season.
$1.77M for the salaries of players 52 and 53
$7.5M to replace injured players

My latest projection for the Patriots 2026 salary cap space number after accounting for the Garrett Bradbury trade and the Jesse Luketa signing is $61,635,841 - a $4.555M increase from my last update.

The Pats now have 62 players on their roster.

The above numbers do NOT include Tommy DeVito

After today's trade of Garrett Bradbury these are the six Patriot players who will be at least thirty years old on September 9th.

Morgan Moses (35)
Mack Hollins (32)
Joshua Dobbs (31)
Hunter Henry (31)
Harold Landry (30)
Robert Spillane (30)

Of course, the Patriots trade a player while I am out eating dinner.😇

06.03.2026 23:56 👍 19 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0

Financial implications: Garrett Bradbury was scheduled to earn a base salary of $3.7 million this season. His contract also called for him to earn $50,000 in per-game roster bonuses and a $150,000 offseason workout bonus.

That results in a cash savings of $4.7 million.

Opinion/analysis: Garrett Bradbury did everything Patriots asked for after signing him to 2-year deal last offseason, starting every game (1,336 snaps), providing veteran leadership, and helping stabilize OL. With Jared Wilson projected center of future, LG moves up needs list.

With the Patriots agreeing to trade center Garrett Bradbury to the Bears for a 2027 fifth-round pick (per Adam Schefter), it further opens the door to move Jared Wilson back to his college position at center.

The Patriots avoid Tommy Devito becoming a RFA on the 11th and make him a possible trade target.

If this happens the NFL cap is going to increase a good deal more than has been happening. Maybe 15% to 20% a year instead of 8% to 14%

A terrible February jobs report. The U.S. economy LOST 92,000 jobs last month, while the unemployment rate rose to 4.4%, one of the highest levels seen in the past few years.

December was revised down to -17,000 jobs, while January was revised to 126,000.
