finished refactoring another project. this time it's the inventory simulator for xenyria. it's intended to be used for server-side logic, but it can also just be hooked up to a GUI to have a minecraft-like inventory system (which might also come in useful soon)

I was up for like 28 hours. I'm now done with pathfinding & entity physics which means I can continue with the next project on my list tomorrow. For now, I'll just try to get some rest

spent a few more hours trying to get everything to work again. most of the movement weirdness has been fixed and all of my test scenarios pass again. its still a very big mess, but fixable

i also took the opportunity to add a 3D debug view. up until now, all test scenarios ran completely headless making troubleshooting extremely difficult & tedious

still busy refactoring old projects. this time, i worked on xenyria's entity "physics engine" & pathfinding system. it still has some issues (especially the pathfinding code) so it'll take me a few days before i can move on to the next project

i did a bit of tinkering with player skins today. not sure if this will lead to anything useful but its kinda interesting. you technically get two rows of 264x8 RGB pixels each (sadly separated by a line of one pixel that is covered by text shadow) without the use of resource packs.

i may have ordered animal crossing merch today despite me not having played any games of that franchise in the last 12 years. it's very cute merch tho, so i couldn't resist :3 (oh and i also got splatoon stickers!!)

Additionally, I'm scared of what might happen in the future if Xenyria just ceases to exist from one day to the next. I just genuinely don't think I would be able to cope with any of that. I'm scared that I'd lose everything & everyone I still have around me :/

Spectrum is now finished. It's not perfect but I'm quite happy with the result. Remote rendering also works (in this case I set up a render node that uses the AMD iGPU of my laptop)
I'll take the rest of the day off and continue with something else tomorrow :3

Spent the majority of the day cleaning up code, adding a tray icon & log window and improving the UI a bit. The last thing I need to work on is deployment, after that I'm gonna take a break and move on to the next project :3

The web editor for Spectrum is mostly finished now. There's still a bit of work left but the difficult part is done now.

Performance-wise, this scene outputs around 16 text components, so updating this several times a second shouldn't use too much bandwidth. Impact on FPS is also extremely small.

I haven't worked on the server plugin/api for Spectrum yet, so currently my only way of testing consists of sending a chat message via command blocks. It's a huge relief to see that all of this still works

Reached another milestone today, the resource pack exporter is now in a functional state. As it looks right now, all of PaintSquad's shaders should work on 1.21.11 now. The editor is still missing a few features, but all in all the pace is quite good :3

I've also started making use of the preview cache thingy I was working on a few days ago, so now every program has a nice preview video in the frontend.
The UI isn't that great, but since it's just an internal dev tool I think it should be fine.
