Across Canada, 48% of college and university students report struggling with the cost of tuition fees. That’s almost HALF of students.

Federal student grants are on the chopping block. Student support should be increasing, not decreasing.

This Fair Dealing week, we’re breaking down myths and facts about fair dealing.

Just because educators have the right to use copyrighted works, doesn’t mean they are free to use any amount of the work. Fair dealing is a specific right in Canadian copyright law.

We tend to think of copyright as being only about protecting creators, works and ensuring those creators get paid. But copyright is all about balance.

At a minimum, cuts to OSAP grants will have paid for 43% of announced university funding increasesβ€”and possibly more. These changes exacerbate the affordability crisis and risk putting a university education out of reach for many students. tinyurl.com/yjccsa9r

Bar graph made up of stacks of coins to show the current and potential future value of the Canada Student Grant. The first bar shows the current value at $4200 and the second bar shows the potential future value as of August 2026 at $3000.

The Canada Student Grant is currently $4200 but could be cut to $3000 for the next academic year.

College and university students in Canada already struggle with the cost of tuition and day-to-day necessities. This cut would be devastating.

Student support should be increasing, not decreasing.

Here are the secret lists of banned books from Alberta's 2 largest school boards The Calgary Board of Education removed 42 books from its libraries and the Edmonton Public School Board removed 33 in response to an order from Education Minister Demetrios Nicolaides.

Alberta has been quietly removing books from school libraries, but not listing which ones. Turns out most titles have themes related to 2SLGBTQ+ people
