Someone said to me "landlords have costs too".
They own TWO (extra) houses (that we know about) worth £165k+ on top of their own home. They could sell them and never have to worry for the rest of their lives...
Insane. We live in the North of England, so things are generally cheaper here, and I know some of my southern friends would kill to have our rent / house prices, but average rent has increased by £300 in the past 3 years here, i dread to think what it's like for those further south.
Should i just eat less avocado toast (I don't like avocado) and live on beans or noodles for a year and a half?
You should be able to live, save, and own your own home without £10k+ from your parents, it shouldn't be this much of a pipe dream.
Any houses less than £100k are bought by landlords or property management firms making buying a "starter" home impossible.
All the new build houses are 3+4 bed houses that START at £250k (which would be a minimum 17.5k deposit for a 95% mortgage.
Council houses have huge waiting lists.
I don't even know how to complain, how to stop it.
Landlord wants more money, using renters rights act to get it. Moving management of the property to a company, which in turn costs more, which is passed onto us.
Once people buy houses they don't care about renters anymore as they're sorted.
We have just had our rent increased by 25% in one go.
That's £200+ less that we can save each month for a house deposit.
We're paying someone else's bills and i'm tired of it.
I'm so angry.
The only viable way to purchase a house in this country is with your parents' money.

Just got "the" email that our landlord is looking to put a rent up as a result of the new renter's rights act. A local housing group has gouged their local tenants with £200 increases, not sure how the hell i'm supposed to just "swallow" an increase that big.
It seems we can now customize the select element, right? right?!
