I find a large percent of fiction writing for me is deciding what a character knows (or doesnβt!) Is it funnier/sadder/scarier if they know everything in a situation or nothing at all? Which is most interesting: if they roll a 1 or a 20 on a skill check? Rarely the answer is anything in between.

I got around to watching C.H.U.D. on a quiet afternoon not too long ago.
I couldnβt agree more. After putting aside the punchlines and the preconceptions, whatβs left is a surprisingly watchable 70s time capsule and a great Daniel Stern performance!

New prediction. It's a long shot, but I'm going to call it now just in case:
POTUS denies reality during the #SOTU so vehemently that he just vanishes from this plane of existence altogether.

Thatβs a tough one.
In 1986, pop culture treated computers as either magical or a punchline. By 1996 every computer came bundled with a web browser and web addresses were being advertised on tv. I personally consider that time the birth of what we consider the modern world.

Judge Calls DOJ's Statements On Slavery Exhibit Display 'Dangerous' And 'Horrifying'
Senior U.S. District Judge Cynthia Rufe told the Justice Department's attorneys, "βYou canβt erase history once youβve learned it. It doesnβt work that way.β
A federal judge warned Justice Department lawyers that their statements on a slavery exhibit display in Philadelphia were "horrifying."

A general strike for me means I wonβt be laboring for others or purchasing consumer items. We will be also eating leftovers and avoiding streaming shows from any major platforms.
- doing labor for yourself is okay.
- protesting and demonstrating is recommended.
- porch beers are a-okay.

Careless People: A Cautionary Tale of Power, Greed, and Lost Idealism by Sarah Wynn-Williams
An explosive insider account charting one woman's career at the heart of one of the most influent...
The Davos Economic Forum is the ultimate circle jerk where billionaires, politicians and celebrities decide the fate of nations and economies. There's a great book about the rise of Facebook where the author spends a chapter or two talking about this wank fest:

In Quantum Mechanics, Nothingness Is the Potential To Be Anything | Quanta Magazine
Try as they might, scientists canβt truly rid a space or an object of its energy. But what βzero-point energyβ really means is up for interpretation.
In a recent experiment, physicists cooled the organic molecule iodopyridine to almost absolute zero. Even at their chilled state, the molecule was vibrating. This is just one example of how, in the quantum world, motion persists at minimum energy.

Also, product placement in books is incredibly inefficient advertising. Assuming one gets through the first 153 pages to get to the passage about a fizzy Coke and still thinks βYummy, gotta get me one!β β more likely I would stay home, Iβm just getting into this biography of John Stith Pemberton.
