As UK-EU relations become more structured, the Commons needs a European Scrutiny Committee. The House of Commons needs a scrutiny structure that reflects the reality of the UK-EU relationship which is now taking shape.
"If ministers are serious about building a more constructive and better organised agreement with the European Union, they should also be serious about ensuring that it is properly scrutinised by the elected House." Read more using the link below π

The consequences of this long developing damage cause by climate change and over fishing and the less than adequate attempts to stop it were deceitfully used by Leave.EU during its Brexit campaign to suggest leaving the EU would miraculously fix it all for UK fishermen and consumers. Heart breaking.

A decade on from the referendum, on Tuesday 24th February, Stephen Gethins MP will be hosting a Parliamentary debate entitled the βImpact of the 2016 EU membership referendum on the UKβ. Itβs vital that parliamentarians from all parties come together to discuss how to move on from Brexit.
Well, I think Brexit has been a disaster under any criteria, and any measure, whether it's economically, socially, culturally. And actually, I think right now we should be talking about rejoining the customs union. But more widely, I do want to see us back in the European Union. Zack Polanski, Leader of the Green Party of England and Wales
2026 marks 10 years since a referendum that devastated our economy, businesses, and our freedoms. Repairing our relationship with Europe, and working constructively together, is the only way we're going to undo the damage, and regain our rightful place at the heart of Europe.
so cool @volteuropa.org
The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, declared that the UK and Europe should come "closer together - on security, on economy or on defending our democracies". Now that it is clear that Europe is willing to work constructively with us, the UK must take action soon.
These people will be far more influential in their communities than we, always staunch Remainers, ever could be. Their neighbours will listen to them and trust them. Given the divisiveness promoted by the press it must have taken them some courage.
We are prepared to believe people who come to speak to us. They approach us and openly acknowledge their mistake, made in ignorance, and their guilt and regret. Why would we not welcome them as allies who will support us in future? Without them we cannot win or become a responsible member of the EU.
It's hard to forgive those who led us into this disaster especially as they continue to promote ruinous policies, but I wouldn't describe the majority of ordinary leave voters we've spoken to like that. Most were well meaning but ill informed & many have acknowledged they were mislead or mistaken.
Should the U.K. join the EU? A clear difference between people who want to move society forward, and those who wish to drag us backwards.
This π, but it'a about much more than economics. It's about rejoining the team, reuniting families and moving to the future with our neighbours as a responsible member of a community of European nations.
Brexit was always a backward step.

Ray Kirtley, Chair of the UK Global Learning Association for Schools, disproves a common misconception that Erasmus+ is only for university students. In reality, in the UKβs last full year of membership, only one third of UK led mobility projects were led by universities.

Peter nails it: "poll after poll shows British voters believe Brexit has been a mistake and they want closer relations with Europe. For the good of the entire UK, Keir Starmer and his ministers need to listen."

Picture of Donald Trump to the right along side the words: "Europe can no longer rely on automatic American protection. Trump and Putin have forced Europe to rethink everything. The United Kingdom must be part of Europe's defence future, not watching from the sidelines. Security that depends on the goodwill of Donald Trump is no security at all. OUR CONTINENT - OUR DEFENCE. Couldn't agree more. Their falsehoods misled voters and left us weaker, more vulnerable & estranged from our European family. Sovereignty they said but sucked up to Trump & look where that led. Help get UK back on the right track. #JoinTheEuropeanMovement

Picture of Kier Starmer at lectern along sides words: "What is becoming increasingly apparent, is the falsehoods that were peddled by Nigel Farage and others at the time of the Brexit referendum; that promise that all you had to do was "leave the EU and immigration will go down'. Then we had the Boris wave where it quadrupled. All you had to do was leave the EU and you'd have 350 million pounds a week for your NHS.' Well it hasn't materialised. All you had to do is leave the EU and all your red tape would be gone'. Tell that to any business that's trying to trade with the EU. Sir Kier Starmer Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. The benefits didn't materialise. Many lives & businesses were disrupted, opportunities lost. We were estranged from our family. If you've had enough of it & want a brighter future, #JoinTheEuropeanMovement today & help us fight for a return to where we belong: as a full member of the European Union.
