Truthfully all payment information should be considered accessible regardless of jurisdiction. So it’s hard to see what could have been done differently by choosing a different provider. But still.

Qatar actually just sold back their Gepards to Germany recently only a few years after they took delivery. They sold them back at a 100% markup.

Sounds like a great deal right up to the point where a swarm of Iranian drones is headed at your face.

I'm actuall dumbfounded that the German government isn't having Rheinmetall just straight pipelining Gepards to anyone with a driver's license

But I also have to put some of this on the gulf states. they're out there spending money on skyscrapers and artificial islands. I'm sure they could find some money for like, low cost coastal drone defense batteries, instead of US taxpayer money financing $400M SAM sites.

Part of the problem is that US defense technology skews towards more technology to make more defense contractors rich. If you change the payoff function to defense in depth, you'd be seeing tons of "dumb" weapons used for drone defense.

US air defenses may not be able to intercept many of Iran’s one-way drones | CNN Politics Trump administration officials told lawmakers during a closed-door briefing on Capitol Hill Tuesday that Iran’s Shahed attack drones represent a major challenge and US air defenses will not be able to...

I have watched many videos now of Ukrainian volunteers who have stapled together three soviet-era AK-47s and mounted them on basically a golf cart shooting down Geran-style drones.

If the US can't figure out how to efficiently intercept a drone I can make in my basement, that's a skill issue.

I’m not sure anyone in the private island child sex party administration is overly concerned about the legal framework in the periphery of a war they illegally started

The things that catch my attention in this war are the ways that the US is combat-testing certain things. First combat use of HIMARS-launched PrSM. First use of LUCAS dronesβ€”reverse-engineered Shaheds.

This is the first time since WW2 that a US submarine has sunk an enemy vessel in combat.

The DeptOfWar twitter account posted this image along with a video showing the torpedo impact. I suspect the still image was digitally upscaled to remove some video compression artifacts, but I have no reason to believe it is substantively incorrect.

Don’t forget: the US lost Afghanistan despite losing fewer troops in 20 years than died on 9/11. Losing a war does not require military defeat.
