A rare sighting of a precious butterfly! Y
This gorgeous creature is a Richmond birdwing, a butterfly native to the rainforests of north-east NSW and south-east Queensland that can grow pretty large with a wingspan of up to 14cm.
This little fellow was spotted by an eagle-eyed ranger in Border Ranges National Park. Just look at those bright colourings
Sadly, its population has significantly declined over the last few decades due to habitat loss and incursions of invasive plant species like the toxic Dutchmans Pipe Vine.
You can help these big little flyers make a comeback! If you live in north-east NSW you can plant a Birdwing vine in your backyard - it's the Richmond birdwing's only food source and critically important to their survival. Find seedlings at your local plant nursery

Nah, Rumpy knows when he loses someone. He walks around the house meowing into empty rooms. He did this when our first cat died, and he wouldn’t leave my side when I was home when Gargy was gone.
And he’s more clingy than ever.

Gradually, I’m losing the urge and patience to explain things to people. I just don’t give as much of a shit about whether they get it or not. More often, I just want to say, “Sure, enjoy that,” then turn and continuing playing with my happy cats.

No no… this is weird to us. The history of paying for the BBC via a tv licence and then tracking down signals to penalise people. It is weird to anyone not in Britain, I understand why you pay for the BBC that way though.

I find this really helps with remembering what it feels like for time to pass. Eventually if I have a good sense of how much time has passed I can use my internal clock and I don’t have to look.

Literally anything we use for keeping time. Also, individual devices purely for time keeping like in the kitchen when cooking.

Want to make a massive amount of money? Make a time device that automatically tells you when you last looked at it. For adhd me, a pathological clock watcher, it would be the single biggest thing that improves my life.

Hey @dankaszeta.bsky.social can you post about how British people have to have a licence to watch tv? Don’t say it’s British people and watch people lose their minds lol

When I finished high school, me and 7 friends drove to the beach and ran into the ocean in our uniforms! Just a really nice memory. Graduating was something I wasn’t sure I could do after failing grade 11. I got free credits. I graduated with a low score, but didn’t stop me going to uni.

successful he would have grown too much scar tissue that would have blocked his gut. That cat cost me about $20,000 over a couple of years.

Yeah it was an obstruction. Most of the time I was able to keep things away from him but over Christmas it was so hectic I just couldn’t watch him all the time. He got sick again and he was also a cat that naturally makes a lot of scar tissue. Just a bad combination. Even if the surgery was

So I’m reading about hatching ducklings*giggling* and I find someone asking about the fact their ducks hatched with deformed, spread legs. They were panicking!!!
And someone very seriously replied, “could it be because you have them on a slippery surface?”
They replied. “Oh yeah, thanks.”
😭😭😭

Rumpy is absolutely an amazingly sweet cat, yes. Gargy who passed recently was an absolute little shit, however.

A guy turned down a street really fast today as I was crossing but I was looking out for cars and turned myself and the dog back onto the path. He took that corner at likely 10-15kph

Thanks! If it doesn’t work I’ll get a proper incubator but I feel like regularly checking them temps, manually turning them and spritzing with water (I also live in a naturally humid place) should be fine.

By the way you can’t spray them with cold water you have to spray them with warm water
