Three days later, and we have a converted simple C-64 game, complete with end to end playwright tests that runs in the desktop browser as well as mobile browsers.
The best experience is on the desktop, but it's playable on your phone.
Please give it a shot.
I started the work...and never got far. I did analyze the BASIC and figured out how 99% of the game worked, I just couldn't find the time to convert it to the web.
So...this week, because I had a day job need to see how Claude Code worked...decided to buy a month of it and try it for this effort
in 2015, I discovered the VICE emulator and found a D64 image of the game! That allowed me to play it. Which was super fun.
I thought, this would be great to convert to a web app and then host on a cloud provider.
It didn't matter that I didn't really know who Pia Zadora was or why Diana Ross would ever be caught with cocaine...it was fun!
Today there is no way in hell you could make this game using real actors names.
Movie Mogul is a game written in 1985 that i discovered on a Loadstar Disk sometime after that. A version of Anthony Chiang's game had been converted to the C=64 by Alan Gardner.
I played the crap out of that game. I loved picking random actors and seeing if i could create a hit movie.
