Hey, @detroithistorical.bsky.social, do you have one of these at the Dossin Great Lakes Museum? Found on FB Marketplace: Handmade Ste. Claire Boblo boat. Made from wood. Comes with case. $400. www.facebook.com/share/1Bf6o4...
Feel the need to remind myself that I donβt need to do all the laundry tonight, after getting a new washing machine after being without for a week.
Thank you so much for all that info! What fascinating lives the remaining buildings in Detroit have led. Would love to be able to explore the inside of the carriage house to see what history remains.
.@detroithistorical.bsky.social what can you tell me about the carriage house that's part of the museum? It isn't shown on this 1889 map or 1910 map.
Eastpointe bravely says βscrew it. We donβt need a Main Street.β Apparently it would be horrible to turn into another Ferndale, with their walkability, independent businesses & highly sought after real estate. βWe prefer to be a pass through, strip mall of a city.β

Macomb County Road Commission.
Sorry, MDOT is too busy widening roads in Macomb County. They were very defensive with me yesterday when I asked them if it was fiscally responsible to widen roads when they have $2.5B in unfunded road & bridge maintenance.
It's not the job of public service ads to sugar-coat the truth and protect drivers' feelings. buff.ly/JySnSF8
Will be a long commute back to Livonia but at least they put in those Flex Lanes, right?? Will shave minutes off the commute!
Happy to see that this route would run all the way downtown. Depending on the frequency & schedule it might be faster for me than taking 9 to Woodward to downtown.

From west riverfront rail yard to Ralph Wilson Park, itβs been quite a glow up.
Concept vs. Reality β The Ralph C. Wilson Centennial Park opens this weekend with a Harvest Fest Celebration (10/25-26). Where to park? There's on street parking along Jefferson & Fort, the former Joe Louis Garage or take DDOT#19, MoGo or People Mover! detroitriverfront.org/plan-your-vi...
Given the popularity of the Dream Cruise and nostalgia for cruising Woodward, I'm surprised no one has proposed a new retro drive in restaurant on that site. Imagine a Big Boy that looked like Mel's in American Graffiti.
Speaking of restaurants on Woodward, I wonder what's happening with the old Pasquale's site on Woodward? Its been 1.5 years since they announce a Big Boy on the site.

I appreciate the symbolism of the GM sign in Detroit but moving from the entire RenCen to the top few floors of the new Hudson Building isn't the power move they think it is. Besides, everyone knows that GM is really headquartered in Warren.
Despite being gone for decades, you can still see some remnants of the old round house in Milwaukee Junction, Detroit.
The next spot being considered would have massive Grand River running through the middle of it and surrounded once again, by nothing but parking. That's not 100% true.
@umich.edu is building there. Not a great hangout over the highway but its not my money to spend.
You can cover this area but it will only connect parking lots & parking structures. They're never going to start on that hotel that was promised 10 years ago and there's Harry's & Town Pump. Dead zone. Adding grass won't fix it. Pedestrian only street, Columbia, is dead outside of game days.
Cap project over I-75 could reconnect key parts of downtown: One parking lot district to another... Seriously though, outside of a game or concert, #DistrictDetroit
is a dead zone. Empty parking lots, a few bars & no outward facing businesses. πποΈπ

Last night a new concept for Belle Isle was revealed. The idea is to turn the area around the Aquarium & Conservatory into a commons where people are encouraged to stay & explore more of the area. You can learn more & take a survey on their website. belleisleconservancy.org

Today, Ford will announce their "Model T moment." Curious which part they will emphasize?
1. All factory workers will go back to $5 a day.
2. Their new EV will cost 1/2 of their current EVs.
3. They plan to produce them in Highland Park, MI.
4. None of the above.
Was considering taking a MoGo from Ferndale then returning it by car once I got home.
I think he turned south on Woodward to avoid the Ferndale Train which was stopped on Hilton.
We love our surface parking > historic places in Detroit.
Pretty sure it was the same driver who picked us up an hour later. I gave him some stank Eye.
Couldnβt see it.
Found a MoGo e-bike but Warren doesnβt participate.
