I think now that anyone can make Marvel style visuals weβll see some really interesting stuff, maybe with a grungier more βhandmadeβ feel. Since you canβt compete by going bigger and flashier youβll have to compete by being more interesting and unique. Thatβs my hope anyway.
A weird side effect of seeing all these Hollywood blockbuster style AI videos is that I get less and less interested in watching actual Hollywood blockbusters.
Itβs kind of like when someone makes a parody of a genre thatβs so accurate that it ruins it and you canβt see/do it the same way again.

I guess I should have read the measurements and not just looked at the pictureβ¦
Two-panel black-and-white comic titled βPsychopaths in movies.β Left panel caption: βBefore main character figures it out:β a smiling man says, βIβm Mr Normal just doing normal things normally.β Right panel caption: β1 second after main character figures it out:β the same man, now wide-eyed and frantic, shouts βEek ook!β and βI kill you with spoon,β while holding up a spoon and wearing underpants on his head.
Definitely no need to apologize π Very effective and impressive filmmaking π
This was great!

The last three Spanish films Iβve seen; The Coffee Table, Kidnapped, and Cell 211 have all been so incredibly bleak.

Poster for the film Kidnapped
Most disturbing film watched: Kidnapped (2010). Brutal and bleak watch. Some impressive technical feats like the long unbroken takes and a head smash that almost rivals Irreversible. But man, you just feel bad after watching.
Posters of the listed films

Watched 131 films this year. Mostly older films that were new to me.
Favorite from this year: One Battle After Another. Weapons is up there too.
Screenshot from my youtube recap saying my most watched channel is Taskmaster and that Iβm in the top 2% of viewers with 186 videos watched.
I guess YouTube has a yearly recap now too.
Also, everyone should be watching Taskmaster.
Saw a familiar joke in βAfter the Thin Manβ and went down a rabbit hole of finding the earliest filmed version.
Walk this Way:
Great YouTube video where a guy builds a 16mm camera from scratch. Explains really well how film cameras work.

Itβs a prequel to Amityville in Space set on Earth.
Looking forward to do some haunted house horror! π»
Video uploaded about making βCall of the Oceanβ but also just shooting Super 8 in general.

Yeah at first I had the text on for longer and it followed the footage off screen but it didnβt feel right. Since it has that old 70s look it felt too modern and out of place for me.
Also on YouTube but age restricted because of gore

Yep. Iβve done some tests syncing audio and itβs been pretty successful but I just didnβt have enough film to waste on shooting a clapper board. Just start rolling and action! π
Camera is good but I also use de-flickering and stabilizing in Resolve for a more steady, consistent image. I donβt remove any grain (I actually sharpen everything a bit) but I use the dust buster tool in Resolve to take out the biggest dirt and hairs. Iβm going to do a youtube video on my process.
Itβs funny how the compression removes so much of the grain that it looks more like 16mm film or something.
Shot a 2 min short on Super8 with @lottalosten.bsky.social while we were in Sweden. Shot on Kodak Vision 3 50D with a Canon 814XL-S camera.

Harry Potter of course. Just look at those Harry Potter colors.
A screenshot of framed.wtf one frame challenge where you guess the movie. The film is Shazam and I got it on the second try.
Many times Iβve gotten these on the first try but yesterday I didnβtβ¦ π³
