The pig, picking gunk out of its ear, replies "more than you could ever afford". The cat asks "is the rent cheap at least?" The pig replies "no it's double the mortgage so I can buy more houses" while looking at whatever gunk it dug out of its ear with its finger. The cat says "we truly live in the best economic system possible." The pig is saying "yes officer, that's the one that was annoying me" to an angry looking police dog that's holding a baton.

He's often rather accurate.

There are zero good excuses not to act on climate - or to save your neighbours from wasting resources.

That works. I did it for neighbours and stopped after ten houses and being called back to revert two within two hours because "they didn't like it".

This is crying out for simple public education campaigns in affected countries.

Which is crazy low-hanging fruit really. For climate as well as economic reasons.

I got some press for the issue at the start of the Ukraine invasion, but I believe only a minority have shifted to low flow and steady heat. Crazy as it is much more comfortable, as well as cheaper. I did a back of the envelope that the UK could save ~10% of total gas demand with wide awareness.

In the UK condenser boilers were mandated from 2005 but not training on how they function. Most are run at temps too high for condensing to work, so burn 10-20% waste gas. I reduced the flow temp from 70C to 45C on mine and reduced gas consumption ~17%. Perhaps some EU countries have similar issues?

Spot on. I've travelled to many places and met people from all walks of life. The vast majority everywhere want a simple life: to live with dignity, in peace with their neighbours, and to leave the world a little better than they found it. The malignant dominator culture is anomalous.

It's not rocket surgery - and an enduring peace is achievable. To get there we all need to learn to live together - and it will take the peaceful to organise collectively as effectively as those who like violence do. Nonviolent communication as taught by Marshall Rosenberg is a useful tool.

It's why the misery of the English runs particularly deep.
