A plate of hasselback potatoes, filet Mignon, and bimi broccoli.

Today is my 38th birthday, and it was perhaps the best one in 10 years. (28th I met Billy Boyd!) My brother WFH'ed and surprised me in the early hours and we spent the day with my mum. I got presents and so much love.

I forgot to take any photos except this one, which says it all I guess ❀️

Anyway so I still love CSS and enjoy fiddling with Astro I'm just 1 random emotion away from 3 hours of nonstop crying.

My cycle is so fucked up I've had insane pms symptoms for 20 days now. I saw a guy pick up his trash at the busstop and burst into tears πŸ‘

(Treatment is in the works, it's complicated. Dipped into menopause around age 33)

The biological necessity of boredom in the age of screens "I call it a tyranny of attention because there's so many demands on our attention coming from so many different directions that we are simply overwhelmed and we don't have the mental bandwidth to…

The modern brain is no different than that of our distant Stone Age ancestors, but our environments have changed dramatically. With so many demands on our attention, we are simply overwhelmed.

Author Richard Cytowic explains how our Stone Age brains can cope in the age of screens:

I still get giddy when I work out or discover new CSS shit. Like, fuck. Plain nested some Tumblr classes to override some bad styles. Couldn't do that a few years back. !important was no good either.

(I'm revisiting old code oooooh boy)

We're getting our 5th snowstorm this year - 3rd in the last 2 weeks. Listen. I am done. I am so done with walking through hip-high snow dunes...

Whew!!

The most snow this region of Denmark has seen in 16 years. My first time experiencing ~1 meter snow in a small town after 20 years in the capital.

Our 9 min morning walk took 40 minutes.

Doggie was wearing warm booties and we both worked up a sweat in -1C.

Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

I was looking through a fairly recent tumblr template of mine, and realising how much JS (and CSS!) I've learnt since dipping my toes in astro and static web pages in November. It's such a joy to actually see progress in my workflow and knowledge.

...I finish this off by waking up to a tennis ball-sized bartholin cystπŸ‘ŒDoc had time to cut me open. Then I wobbled home, only to pull a muscle in my back because icy stairs.. wobbled back to Doc and got an injection. THEN I was trapped on a train that lost power for 2 hours. It's been *a day* πŸ₯²

Not only have I been taken care of my mum while she's had the flu and walking her dog 3 times a day, while a massive snowstorm has ruined out streets.. (I am chronically ill btw).

The reason why RAM has become four times more expensive is that a huge amount of RAM that has not yet been produced was purchased with non-existent money to be installed in GPUs that also have not yet been produced, in order to place them in data centers that have not yet been built, powered by infrastructure that may never appear, to satisfy demand that does not actually exist and to obtain profit that is mathematically impossible

Game night was a success! I can't believe how many queer folk I have met in such a small city. Moving away from Copenhagen, I worried I would feel very.. removed. But it's not been the case ❀️🌈

I'm trying not to paint myself into a corner in terms of my global css + variables. I've learned so much in the past few months. Stepping outside of the Tumblr sandbox was the best thing.

I keep telling myself I do not need an end product, and that can improve and change as I progress. Almost there

Well well well, if it isn't 2026.

Venezuela was attacked. but I met a trans person this morning, in my (still new) small town, who invited me to a board game night with other queers.

I refuse to feel hopeless.

For my northern hemisphere folk of course. Focusing on summer/winter solstice as time guide is much more helpful.

Whenever we decided the new year begins in January and not March, fucked us up.
