I got a no on septum from the piercer I asked, but I'm gonna ask again at some point. I love my nostril piercing, might possibly do the other nostril so I can do a little chain across the bridge of my nose as a consolation if I can't do septum.

and between the small brew boiler and a lot more watts available on a 240v circuit the Silvia brew boiler gets to nominal temp so fast! though takes longer to be temp stable and the steam boiler takes a while.

and the breville was fine but it was definitely not built like a tank (breville would eventually replace new for their flat repair fee rather than repairing when it leaked from too many places) and took up way more counter space for no clear benefit. so an upgrade all around.

we had a eureka mignon specialita as our grinder at home and the grind by weight of the Libra makes it so much easier to control one variable at a time. but also that one got stuck all the time and this one doesn't, for reasons unclear.

we just got a Silvia pro x upon moving to Europe and selling our old 120 volt breville dual boiler back in California. I like it a lot so far. paired with a eureka mignon Libra and the combo seems super solid and low fuss.

I could marginally pass the UK sample one online before studying, and I did a compressed round of practice yesterday. fingers crossed!

I had to pass a much more serious written test to trade for my California license though, and actually had to skim the book for 15 minutes to pass on my second try iirc

on my Massachusetts learner's permit test one of the questions was, and I am not making up any of the details here, "what does the law say about throwing a lighted cigarette out your car window?" a) it is legal b) it is illegal c) only if it's raining. and just to add a rhetorical flourish...

also today is 3 months since we got to the UK! doing pretty well all things considered.

I got a Moderns, TDaP booster, and pneumonia vax at the same time last spring for reasons, and holy shit I do not recommend that combo.

We're settling in bit by bit, though still feeling somewhat uprooted. I like London and am happy to be here for the next while. We have a probable long term place to live, the kids like their school, and my job is the same though with a different set of people I see face to face on a daily basis.
