a collection of stickers on a couch. they're mostly logos of software projects, minus three which promote the sticker shop in question. the programming logos are for C++, ruby, rust, git, ubuntu, and lastly there's tux the linux mascot!

Though, the only Windows 98 I was using was Win 98 SE. And I hear it was night and day compared to the original Win 98.

It was kinda okay, though, depending on the hardware and software you were using …

I still get glitches nowadays when plugging in monitors or the power cable.

And Windows XP was kinda great.

a bunch of 2-inch stickers within iridescent pouches, mainly logos for software and software tooling like Rust and Firefox. There's also a purple sticker of a donkey with a stickr.shop cap on

Due to high demand, we are currently out of stock for the soydev-frontend-pack! Everyone who ordered it in the last days might have to still wait a bit for their sticker order! 😬

But we'll make up for it and put in some extra stickers for all orders that are delayed! 🥳

[FEATURE] [security] Adding DNSSEC and SSHFP records #2

Open

altf4arnold opened yesterday · edited by altf4arnold

What feature do you want?

I would like you to implement DNSSEC with SSHFP records.
What problem does this solve?

With HTTPS, you can be certain that the website isn't being spoofed. Apart of encrypting your connection, it also validates the authenticity of the cert against a root CA.

In this current state, the SSH server will answer with a key. But there is no real way to verify said key's authenticity against anything. So basically, anyone could spoof the server and take away money from potential customers.

It is like leaving a HTTPS website open with a self-signed certificate
How should it work?

Providing the user does know how to use it (sadly requires a manual activation in your ssh-client configuration and the use of a resolver that doesn't predate the year 2000), your ssh client will compare the key provided by the server with the one provided by DNS.

Example on my own git server :

The authenticity of host 'git.adechamps.net (2a01:4f9:c012:4921::1)' can't be established.
ED25519 key fingerprint is: SHA256:7cRwIz8b9WeyFKp/IIJarR14o3K5P/vLP8hwjiWudUk
Matching host key fingerprint found in DNS.

You can see that it first doesn't know if my server is authentic, it will then look it up in the DNS and see that it found a match. So this is probably authentic (and if it finds a key and it doesn't match, it will prevent you from connecting all at once)

Actually … no 😬 I actually use a different gmail account for my phone to keep them separated 😅

Though, I use spotify, which kind of synchronises the music / podcasts I listen to.

I don't know what kind of users you mean, but no privacy-conscious user will ever want "their data sync'd to all devices".

If your data is on one device, you know exactly where it is. If your data is synced, it could as well be everywhere …

(Then again, I only have one phone and one computer.)

Speaking of man pages:

We tried to make a slick, animated web store.

Then we remembered our audience uses i3wm, vim, and thinks man pages are a fun read.

Keep it simple. Keep it terminal.

Wow, the ansible ecosystem seems to be stuck in the 90s – and that's despite ansible existing since 2012! 🙈
