I think they should have the equivalent of one of those "Kanji Study" apps but for Classical Mongolian. I imagine there aren't more of these because I'm the only person who would be using them. And that a vertical, connected script is rough on Unicode

New episode of Yurt Jurt podcast with Buryat architect, activist and artist Seseg Jigjitova. We’ve been conversing for a while, from Berlin to Mediterranean. Then we sat down in a small bedroom and poured our hearts out. This is a special episode. Take a listen.

Unrelated to everything, @lambinawoolsweater.bsky.social and I are thinking of starting a blog (tikytok?) in which the goal is to read and review 100 ethnographies from the 21st Century, got any favorites we should check out?

This is the kind of homey post-Soviet environment you can only really find at hospitals in the Rust Belt. A gentle Uzbek transport names you "Horse," this must have been Cleveland or Pittsburgh.

"media literacy" joins "emotional labor" and "self care" in the canon of phrases whose meanings were destroyed by people who were more attached to the way they sounded than what they actually meant

Mm I don't think "media literacy" means "uncritically assuming a piece of media is apolitical, objective, and without motivation or bias" but then again I'm just a simple country media studies professor
