there was a lot of snow in New England today. and as i understand, also in parts of New York, New Jersey, New Delaware, and Newsylvania.

update: taking the tree down today, playing βYouβre a Mean One, Mr. Grinchβ on loop. sneering and tiptoe-ing around in a capering style as i un-decorate.
since this is the first year we've had an artificial christmas tree, there is no inherent constraint with how long we can leave it up (a real tree would be bare sticks by now with my dogs stomachs full of pine needles).
what arbitrary date should i take it down? valentines day?

a bottle of iced tea where about 1/4 of it is frozen solid
i left my iced tea in the car.
i resolve in 2026 to start posting more. but of course this requires me to start doing interesting things so i can share them.
i guess i could just lie.
anyway, i have to get back to my spaceship. later!
my wife baked apple pies this morning and i made chex mix this afternoon so our house is smelling festive as heck
a photo of the sunset from my house on september 16th.
nice one tonight.
now is the time of year where i will become unreasonably angry at trees.
(no, not like Spring. i have very valid reasons to be angry at them in the Spring).
tonight I sat out on my patio in an Adirondack chair, watching for shooting stars from various meteor showers and I saw a few of them and my family who joined me later saw a few also, and this was absolutely amazing
that thing where you pick up your coffee cup, find that is already empty, and look at it like is has betrayed you.
the export gives you a csv of everything you saved, both unread and archived.
a photo of a starbucks cup that says βthat first sip feelingβ
actually Starbucks, βthat first sip feelingβ is pain. the fiery burning pain as if you handed me a cup of molten lava and it just immolated my tongue and the roof of my mouth.
the burning hot fire of a thousand suns.
plus nuttiness and a hint of caramel
since i hurt my back, iβm not able to go to PAX East this year. but i am excited that my wife got to take the kids, this will be her first time attending!
donβt get too excited, but today iβve spent some time going back to old crosswords (from before i subscribed) in apple news so i can do more crosswords
that thing where itβs like seeing the same cat twice in The Matrix except itβs that some apps on your phone are in different places
i'm trying to get better with checking in here, but honestly without a client that remembers where you left off (why does the native client not do that?) it's tough to get traction. looks like tapbots is working on it, though!
sometimes I say dumb things and I donβt know why. Example: βshould I make more coffee?β
things keep happening so quickly it's difficult to keep up with what to be terrified about
i try to hide how difficult life is from my kids.
but sometimesβ¦
sometimes i slip.
when i got my first iPhone (4s? i think) i made ringtones of the Super Mario Bros 2 overworld theme and underworld themes. complete with the βtime running outβ speed-up at the end. i still use them.
new year, decided to procure a replacement computer for work (to replace my 2019 intel macbook pro) and they sent me a 2021 m1 mbp. not bad, glad to be on apple silicon, and havenβt heard a cooling fan yet.
no time to set it up though as several βchallengedβ projects are vying for my help. sigh.
the road thing - i swear this is what chipmunks do with acorns in my backyard. iβve been stepping on (and cracking open) acorns that are nowhere near an oak tree.

congrats for getting it down to two hours. my current editing process is measured in months.
wait you have to win a popularity contest before youβre willing to make a principled decision? sounds like you should stay on twitter.
my family arrived home expecting that i had recorded a hip-hop cover of a blink-182 song. i had to explain - no - while they were out, i was planning to _wrap_ All The Small Things.
a photo of βOld Manβ Marley from the Home Alone movie.
this morning i took my bucket of salt & sand to spread on a part of our cul-de-sac thatβs always in the shade and currently glare ice. and i realized, my transformation is complete.
a photo of my new M4pro mac mini on top of my old M1 mac mini.
big upgrade today. er, small upgrade today.
β¦significant upgrade today.
if youβre the kind of person who compares your own physical conditioning to the other people at the gym, and maybe feel bad about yourself - good news.
today i set the bar really low for you.
real, real low.
