Very sad to hear that James Litchfield, my best friend from my Hertford days, has passed away. He was sooo nice and funny.
I just ordered a ‘ham and cheese doughnut’ (meaning ‘bagel’) in a cafe and am now LITERALLY dying of embarrassment.
I live near a canal and am proud to say I’ve never knowingly attempted to usher a goose .

As a feature maker, I’m violently opposed to (mostly) staged and scripted ‘reality’ TV. But I must admit to a guilty addiction to the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. It’s such fun watching rich people arguing and having crazy meltdowns.

Today, I relocated two eucalyptus trees, a bay tree and three huge clumps of grass and I can finally see the olive tree which was somewhat swamped. I also optimistically removed the frost covers from the fig trees. Not bad for an elderly person with dodgy parts.

Neil Sedaka was great, wasn’t he? So many brilliant songs and such a warm presence. My mind went immediately to this one, because it’s also one of Karen Carpenter’s finest vocals. There’s no thrill like Karen sliding into her lower register, and this Sedaka song has a lot.

This Princeton University Art Museum photo shows a blackware ceramic figurine of two stylised dogs which look as if they are dancing. They are standing upright on their hind legs, facing each other, their front legs raised, with paws resting against each other. The dog on the left has its face turned towards the viewer, with snout slightly raised and seeming to smile. The dog on the right, rests its raised snout against the cheek of its partner. The figures are rounded and smooth with short legs, pointed snouts, pointed ears, and short curved tails. Their bodies are decorated with incised lines, which according to the museum, represent folds of skin, indicating that these canines are Mexican hairless dogs.
