Call the piece of legislation that ultimately abolishes ICE the Pretti-Good Act

First they came for the immigrants, and few did anything.
Then they murdered a woman in her car and called her a terrorist.
Then they murdered a man.
Then they arrested a 5-year old.
Then they arrested 100 clergy.
Then they murdered another man and called him a terrorist.
We know how this poem ends.

The unbridled unjustified violence. The incompetence. The impunity. The bald-faced lies. The victim-blaming. The inhumanity. I expected and feared this would come. I fear what comes next. The only way forward is steadfast solidarity against the meat grinder of fascism. Stay safe my friends.

A reminder that @sarahkendzior.bsky.social wrote two whole books warning about this exact thing happening, and people ignored her. I very much want to know what she thinks is going to happen over the next 2-4 years.

So now we are at the @lufthansagroup.bsky.social Service Counter waiting with probably 50 other travellers to get our missed connections sorted out.

I get to gate B20...
And the flight is long gone. A kind crew member comes to the door and tells me they held the flight as long as they could, but we missed it by 10 minutes.

BORDER CONTROL! With about 100 people in front of us! It's now 10:54 and I know there is no way the flight is still within reach. Nevertheless, I whip out my Norwegian passport and rush past the line to see if somehow miraculously I can get them to hold just a little bit longer.

The bus arrives at the ... Bus gate? And we start running. If you've never been to FRA, this may sound like a small thing. It is not. You have to run up a huge flight of stairs, through the terminal, down more stairs, through an ENDLESS tunnel, up more stairs, and then...

The fully loaded bus stands still for a solid 10 minutes, departing at 10:43. 9 year old Leo looks at me and asks "are we going to get home? Are we stuck here? What about our luggage?" I put on my best calm parent face and tell him it'll all work out.

The @lufthansagroup.bsky.social app now informs me our Vancouver flight is 15 minutes delayed, now leaving at 10:55. Maybe they're holding the gate for us!

What meets us at the air stairs? A BUS! Even though we are literally at a gate! Such practical! Very FRA airport!

A driver for the air stairs finally arrives at 10:30 and we are out the door by 10:36. 4 minutes until our connection departs.

When the plane finally reaches the gate at 10:15, the captain announces there is no driver for the air stairs! Again, our gate closes at 10:20.

Our connecting flight to Vancouver was scheduled for 10:40 with the gate closing at 10:20. We touch down in Frankfurt at 09:50 and start taxiing. For a VERY LONG TIME.

Our flight from Oslo to Frankfurt was scheduled to leave at 06:15. Due to weather delays, the fully boarded flight sat at the gate until 07:35 and took off around 08:05.

For the 2nd day of 2026, my wife, our 9-year-old, and I are exercising the age-old tradition of travel limbo courtesy of weather and @lufthansagroup.bsky.social. Here's the story so far:

I think these two talks by @mor10.com are excellent for framing how we think about “AI” in a more human-empowered way. Healthy skepticism in it, understanding how it works, and using the right words.
