I think it kinda did though. It was never going to overtake the mainstream, but there's almost certainly tons of 'weird' stuff being made that wouldn't be if not for FROM's influence.
Isn't that the basic assumption you make when creating... any art?

I feel neutral on some sort of fighting game decathlon. Seeing who is good at many games rather than the best at one is its own kind of fun.
But uh, I feel less neutral about it given who is putting it on...
Just in general I feel like there are a lot of "off-putting" mechanics that just need its right context to be engaging instead.
Stealth or puzzles are terrible in the wrong context but I don't think many would argue they're inherently off-putting.
Hopefully they don't make you do the sewer level.
They're fun if you have a full team of friends. Outside of that it's not a game, it's a political career-sim.
