Good luck capturing decades of experience about software design in your .md files.

βAIβ is an amplifier of engineering capability, not a magic wand that fixes bottlenecks, blockers and quality leaks. Unless you address them (and that .. doesnβt come with your Claude Code plan), it just makes them worse.

Amusing - I'm hearing a comeback of XP (Extreme Programming) practice.
In the early 2000s these used to be popular (championed by @kentbeck.com). Then died down. They are now surging again.
XP practices like small releases, frequent integration, and constant customer input!
Time to get rid of these crashes! π
AI researcher Gary Marcus told Business Insider that it was like "giving full access to your computer and all your passwords to a guy you met at a bar who says he can help you out."

Is this even satire?
From a colleague:
The anti-pattern is a `PLAN.md` that says "we will do X" when the code already does Y. Plans live in conversations; outcomes live in artifacts.
Full up-front planning never worked in software development, agentic coding won't change that

Using Claude Code is a trip. I asked it to read some files, perform analysis and tabulate results. I noticed table didn't match the underlying data.
Asked Claude what happened. It can't read PDFs so it just made up the results. Next time provide tools for reading PDFs before asking me to do a thing

Thinking of all the bugs their app had lately, maybe they should appreciate humans more π

The interesting thing was less that it might be wrong but it's less effective than googling yourself π€ͺ

Steve Jobs accurately predicted the future with Siri and then Apple spent 15 years fumbling the execution until eventually giving up and asking Google for help.
Culture eats strategy for breakfast.
Demanding an estimate guarantees the estimate will not be useful to the business and will always drive costs up.
Software engineers all know that estimates are useless.

I made a pair go through the plan Claude generated + their .md files, and cross-check them against the code that was generated/modified.
They'd estimated that ~90% had been followed.
47% was ignored. Claude didn't do what it said it was going to, and didn't follow their rules, about half the time.
But it's Capitalism, it doesn't care about the kids. That's the difference, unfortunately

This image is a perfect example of everything that is wrong with the usual code-review process. People debate the grammar, even though there's no universe in which the prepositional phrase "of cell phones and earbuds" can be the subject of a sentence.
